QPR Relegation Party 2012-13 12:57 - Nov 2 with 4051 viewsJHoop

Purely FYI....
There is a group of Fulham fans who have set this group up on FB and it is very anti QPR! Completely unnecessary and hurtful if you ask me
Might be worth a look if you're a Facebooker.

(1)That's just sad.

(2) I think you'll stay up comfortably.

(3) Our away support this year: Man Utd (1,000-ish), Wigan (1,000-ish), WHU (sold out smaller allocation), Saints (2,500), Reading (sold out - 2,500?), Arsenal (sold out - 3,100)

i.e. We are fu cking mammoth.

When I saw the OP I wondered how long it would take for an angle on Fulham's away support. I wasn't let down...

I don't understand Fulham there seems to be a younger element who are obsessed with us and really want us to be "rivals" , whereas older QPR and Fulham fans generally don't give a sh it !

I was discussing something similar on Saturday. Maybe some of our younger fans think the same? (I dunno I'm getting old)

it does seem to be a younger thing, those of us 30+ grew up with Fulham in div 3 or 4 and QPR in Div 1 so neither side saw each other as rivals, that's always been the same for me, I remember going to Fulham for a pre season game in 96 when Gallen got the winner, it was hard to imagine on that night what was to come.

I quite admire what Fulham have done reminds me of QPR in the 80's and early 90's and find it hard to get that wound up when we play them but people who have grown up with QPR on the way down and Fulham on the way up probably feel the rivalry a lot more.

And I deliberately didn't mention anything about Fulham's away support so that it wouldn't cause upset on our board.
Although I will say one thing, Konk, you didn't take anywhere near 1000 to Wigan

I look forward to wiping the smirks off their faces.

I have never seen Fulham as rivals. I remember when they played West Ham in the cup and everyone was Fulham for the day. We are similar sort of teams -- unglamorous London sides forever overshadowed by the glamour clubs. Even when QPR were the top side in London, the newspapers only ever focused on Arse, Spurs, Manure and Liverpool. To be honest, I dont see Are or Spurs as rivals either. Scum are the rivals. I always want them to lose and for bad bad things to happen to them. The others are London sides and as long as they aint playing us, I would rather a London side won over a Manchester side.

I think it was actually closer to 1,100, but didn't like to brag. £10 tickets, think we'd sold 1,000+ a few days before when a mate of mine asked our ticket office. That end holds 5,000 odd.

With our lot, I think it depends on a number of things.

Most of our support comes from south of the river and has zero interaction with QPR fans other than when we play them. Older fans from SW London and Surrey don't seem to care about QPR at all - we've barely played each other over the years. Younger ones do, largely because of Hughes being a bit of a kno b, Zamora being a precious t wat even when he had the crowd's full backing and also because it's a derby that isn't hopelessly lopsided. But Chelsea would still be the main game for 95% of this lot.

Those of us from north of the water have had much more interaction with Rangers fans, so lob in the other factors, take into account the inequality in the SW6 games, and the two wins I want this season are v Hughes/Rangers as is the case with a few of my mates. I like having Rangers in the same division as its a proper derby whereas it's always been impossible to get worked up about Arsenal, Tottenham, West Ham, Orient, Palace etc.

That makes alot of sense,

All the Fulham fans I know (about 5) but enough for a cross-section are older and we always have cordial discussions on both teams.

Mind you I thought nothing of going down Brentford one boxing day as we were at Plymouth. (went to Plymouth once, the coach got lost on the way back, never again) It was a good game V's Wycombe, bought back memories of our days in that league.

Not according to the Wigan fans who suggest it was around 300, as did the scenes on MOTD which showed a virtually empty away end. I forget who it was, but one of the very regular posters on here said the official number was 287.

I was talking to a good mate of mine about your trip to the Dell the other week and he said that when you scored in the last minute their fans started piling out but when they equalised they all ran back in through the exits to carry on the banter.
I remember doing a similar thing at MK in the cup game in Jan, we left on 90 mins when losing 1-0, a totally shocking performance had been witnessed. We heard the Rs fans cheer so ran right the way back around the ground and in again to celebrate! Nice ground that one though!

We can't just have Fulham fans 'announcing' themselves as our rivals. Forms have to be filled in, fees have to be paid, and the necessary certificates have to to be issued. When will they ever learn?

This is also why we see Scum as a hated rival but most of their fans (who have only supports the scum since they became rich) were completely unaware of this. Hence comments last year along the lines "I didn't realise this was a derby"

Considering the group was originally called QPR Relegation Party 2011-12 and had to be updated I think we can safely file it under bollox.

And no I'm not bitter just because I've been banned from the group for pointing out the original name.
