Surely Northern Irishmen can't be classed as foreign, as they are a part of the UK?
Leo Bertos for me, I'm sure he hit double figures in his first season with us. Not bad for a midfielder in a not too great Division 3 side.
McArdle got a mention in the opening post.
Wasn't there a German defender who we had on trial one pre season and everyone was raving about him? He elected to sign for someone else (a non English club I think?) though.

That's the fella! With it being pre season I never got to see him play so can't say if he was any good, I just remember him getting rave reviews from people on here.

Pretty sure that lad became a coach somewhere abroad after being turned down for a contract by the Dale.

I might be making this up, but I'm sure I remember a story about a Nigerian striker who was on trial with us after leaving some German Club, sure he had a few caps for his country too. He played a couple of trial games, banging the goals in, and then in one game he got subbed off, walked into the changing rooms, got changed, drove off and he was never seen near the club again.. Sure he was called John something
