How much do airplanes pollute? emissions: Aviation contributes to 2.5–3.5% of global emissions. Contrails: Contrails are clouds of ice that form when engine exhaust mixes with cold, humid air. They trap heat radiated from the earth at night. Ozone: Nitrous oxides in plane emissions interact with the atmosphere to form ozone, which is a warming agent. Soot: Soot is a fine particulate matter emitted by planes. Other factors that contribute to aviation pollution Water vapor: Water vapor is a product of jet fuel consumption and makes up about 30% of the exhaust. Sulfur aerosols: Aviation emits sulfur aerosols. Radiative forcing: Aviation affects radiative forcing. Non-CO forcings: Aviation affects non-CO forcings. How does the type of flight affect pollution? A first class ticket on a long-haul flight emits, on average, four times as much as an economy seat. A flight in a private jet emits on average 10 times more greenhouse gases than a flight in a commercial airliner. Add this to Trump pulling out of the Paris climate accord and promising to "drill baby, drill" can anyone think of a good idea why we are being taxed to the green hilt?

Somebody will innovate this and that until its as cheap as oil and gas. Why not in Wales ? Plus gives the uk energy independence forever. No reliance on Mr Putin.

Wales is unfortunately 'dead ground ' politically as it always has voted Labour. Labour and Conservatives have nothing to gain. We need a change in Wales to reinvigorate politics here. I'd be happy for any change just to get politicians focussed.

Strange that individual freedoms are being taken away from us at an alarming rate yet they don't mind chucking 204 passengers on a 737 Max to travel the continent with no thought of the polar bears.

I've heard there's going to be a massive catapult on the new runways to help the "elastiplanes" get off the ground. Also, TATA have decided to tun Port Talbot over to the production of the extra giant Virgin rubber bands. Good to see the steelworks bouncing back.
