My wife is from a large family from West Wales, every one of them speak Welsh as their first language, are they to stop doing so because of the views of the likes of you?
Isn’t it amazing that the Welsh language is still alive and kicking despite English teachers beating Welsh speaking children years ago in an attempt to stop them speaking it? |

Neither do I but I do have issues with for instance M4 signs in Welsh only. And I stand by the money going to be wasted in changing minor things like County signs, official headed paperwork etc. And an extra cost will be incurred. Don’t forget the 20 mph signage cost an initial £35 million. Aren’t there more important things to spend tax payers money on? |

I am from west Wales Cardy stock.
My grandad ,welsh speaker ,certainly knew how to conduct business affairs in English .
How exactly has the welsh language act improved Wales as a country and especially for the majority who do not and do not want to speak it
It’s because of views like yours that sees division as we do over a bluddy language
Wales has some of the poorest areas in the UK and the language used in those areas is irrelevant |
It makes no difference to me whether you accept it or not, you are speaking as someone who lives in England and will have limited if any interactions with the people I’m talking about. I live and work in West Wales and come across these individuals on a weekly basis, so I can actually comment as someone with first hand experience of the issue.
The Act has put Welsh and English on an equal footing which is to be welcomed, those who are bilingual have the best of both worlds and those who don’t feel comfortable and prefer using Welsh can use that language.
It’s because of views like yours on both sides of the debate that we have division, most can see the advantages of having 2 languages. | | | |

So is it the cost or the "alienation".? The alienated one are the older people who missed the boat. Times have changed.
It is about empathy with your surroundings. Swansea urban people do not have the empathy it seems. The are clear anti Welsh narratives. Anything money spent in Wales is a waste. Londoners do not think like this. For them any money spent anywhere else is a waste.

Money spent on things Wales really needs isn't wasted. Money thrown down the drain is wasted.
If people want to speak Welsh then great, it's their choice but they should be able to request contact be made in Welsh and save money on the bilingulaism that is pointless.
My wife answers the phone in work (NHS) and has to give the relevant greeting in Welsh and English but she cannot say any more than hello, good morning, good afternoon and goodbye so the rest of the convo is in English, again give people the option and provide the needed resources but don't spend more money than us necessary.
It's not about being anti Welsh, it's about spending our money better, where it's really needed. We have peiple desperate fro hospital treatment, desperate for decent homes or any home at all and desperate for jobs and the Senedd wastes money.
Westminster is no better and for all I know the Scottish and irish governments too. Politiccians are useless and they argue about pointless things. | | | |

Westminster wastes billions more than any other public institution.
They spend ten times more annually on the English Arts Council than is spent on the welsh language.
