It is indeed. We were a staggering power given our size and location. Yes,we should have stayed out of countries and not ribbed their resources but we were by far the best colonialists . My own gripe is we are too tolerant of those who don’t really like it here. Respect the land you live in and live in a land you respect

Celebrate being British these days and you'll probably be called a racist.

They can always F off if our history offends them .As the social demo graph changes then so will the view on past GB history especially by those who dragged their sorry arses here from country's we improved .IMO of course. Just taking London as an example of how much change has occurred in way of ethnicity 46% of Londoners are Black and Minority Ethnic, so taken overall you can see why many would dismiss our history.

Agreed
We rampaged around the world, colonising, stealing and pillaging other countries. Killing hundreds of millons in the process. We are getting a kind of payback now.The whingers and wimps are crying about a few boatloads coming here. It's karma, tough, suck it up.

Not sure where you got this fictional hundreds of millions from. The population of all the British Colonies actually rose considerably over the years. Due to the introduction of health care, education, water and sanitation systems as well as introducing a legal code to these countries. Most former Colonies on independence took up a democratic system, although a few former African countries reverted to either maxism or dictatorships and corruption.
Meanwhile Russian continues to try and reconquer its former Colonies as has no qualms about killing millions of its own citizens since 1917 .

People like Kehinde Andrews, a strong proponent of paying reparations for slavery. he has argued that the UK should pay. He's a professor of "black studies" in Brum uni, the UK's first such position.
My stance is that if any UK ctozen takes reparation money then they should go back to the country their enslaved ancestor was from, put the situation back the way it would have been. That is, if I agreed with reparations because the idea is absurd. Why should todays UK pay for the crimes of our ancestors? Then, if it happened where do you draw athe line, would we claim reparations drom the Norse countries, Italy and Normandy French peple for their invasions, slavery and theft from this group of islands?

I wonder if the professor of black studies is aware of the pirates from the Barbary coast who routinely raided Cornwall, the West Country and the south coast of England for hundreds of years to capture thousands upon thousands of people to use as slaves back in Africa? If he is I wonder if he teaches it?

It's previous govts and the crown that was responsible and should be held to account, but reparations are impractical

Were you there , it sounds like or is that the royal we and if so are you going to apologise on behalf of the rest of us ?
It’s another one of the fake genocides they like to come up with. We were so efficient at murdering them all their population has boomed to 1.5 billion.
