Cardiff Airport on 19:23 - Jan 17 with 1949 views | builthjack | Another thread spoilt by the few. For me, Cardiff airport is easy to get to. Not sure why some seem to have so much trouble. Bristol is down a load of lanes with usually queues near the airport. It’s ok, but harder to get to. [Post edited 17 Jan 21:05]

New roads built to circumvent Ashton. It's okay to get to but cheaper and better flights end of. As I said it's a Welsh enclave for flights . Would rather fly from Cardiff and used to but the product is just not there for most.

Cardiff Airport on 17:02 - Jan 17 by AnotherJohn | Not so great from Swansea though without going past to the west and then circling back on the A4320/A48. Last time I tried to find a new way (via Junction 34 and Hensol) my sat nav took me down such a narrow lane that my SUV could barely get through. [Post edited 17 Jan 20:21]

Done the Cardiff airport run many times. Come off the M4 junction 37 (Porthcawl Junction) on to the A48, turn right onto the B4265 through Ewenny, St Brides Major, Wick, bypass Llanwit Major, past Aberthaw second roundabout turn right into the airport. Piece of cake.

No, you go past the Merthyr Mawr turn off, stay on the A48 for a short distance longer and you’ll come to a roundabout governed by a set of traffic lights. Turn right at those lights onto the B4265 and just stay on it. Eventually you will see St Athan on your left and Aberthaw on your right. The airport is not far from there.

Well no doubt the Senedd will provide a few hundred million in subsidies to encourage them. As long as it's going to Cardiff anyway. In a few years there may be a very large plot of land available in Port Talbot, I wonder if the Senedd will encourage anyone to go there?

You are very parochial. Rhoose is one third the way to Cardiff and two thirds the way to Swansea. It is not in Cardiff. Port Talbot will be use for the new Electric Arch works presumably and be much cleaner. .

CWL is roughly 12 miles from Cardiff city centre but 37 miles from Swansea city centre, it is not two tirds of the way to Cardiff. Before you make crass statements it is always good to check the facts, a lesson I learned from using this forum, take that as a tip. I now I've suggested this to you before but still you repeat the mistakes. It might not be in Cardiff but still it is called Cardiff-Wales airport, not by me but by the Senedd and the people of Wales generally speaking. The Electric "Arc" will make poorer quality steel which means the UK will have to import "virgin" steel which is obviousy a mistake. In a few years it would be ni surprse if TATA wanted to close it altogether, they'll milk what they can first, specially from government grants. Now tell me, how is my view of what is happening across Wales, from here in Skewen over to Rhoose "parochial"?

Get onto the A48 at Bridgend or travel to jct 33 just past Jct 34 at Hensol and its a straight all the way road to the airport via the culverhouse junction. Couldn't be easier or more straightforward either way in my opinion. If I thought that it was even remotely awkward driving to Rhoose I'd offer that opinion in an instant, I'm not the PR department of the airport and don't have shares in the place. But its not ( in my view) [Post edited 20 Jan 20:16]

Yes, lets not be negative, lets just stick to the facts that re indisputable those being that CWL is losing money hand over fist and the Senedd has written of loans to it and "invested" even more money so that currently the Welsh people are owed over 250 million. That is money we will never get back even if they sold the airport because as a going concern it is not financially viable.

Also Brizzle Airport is Little Wales with half of South Wales descending on England's green and pleasant land for their much deserved breaks with better flights and cheaper!

He appears to dislike anything positive about Wales or the welsh people. There is enough demand for both Cardiff and Bristol, competition is good. Devolve Air Passenger Tax like Scotland and tbe north if Ireland and the balance will be returned. Welsh govt has asked for it. Englands Tory govt prefer to favour Bristol instead.

The demand for Cardiff is poor the drop in flights and passengers say so. If wasn't for the Welsh government bail outs they'd be gone. Hence the mass exodus of Welsh flyers to Bristol. At one time Cardiff was a good alternative and competitor to Bristol but sadly I can't really see that happening again.

appearance and fact are not the same , maybe I'm more truthful unlike those who like your self ignore the facts that we as Nation have not prospered in over 20 years, if you care to to provide evidence that we have improved in terms of education , job creation, social care , welfare ,transport all of which come under r the remit of Cardiff then please do

Think you will find air passenger tax is the same at Bristol and all English airports as at Cardiff. Welsh people don't support the airport they prefer to fly from other airports.

I believe they fly from other airports because the product is available . Since the demise of BMI Baby I haven't been near Cardiff. My flights have been predominantly from Bristol and a few from Brum. I think the Nationalists may have an agenda to keep the airport open, in the huge hope that one day there will be independence for Wales. A socialist paradise. We can then rename it the Mark Drakeford Airport and welcome with open arms such barbaric dignantries as Kim Jong Un and President Pukin and maybe that nice fella from Hamas.

I'm Welsh and a mercenary. I choose an airport depending on destination availability, cost and flight time. I haven't booked Cardiff for years but am flying from there next month as my Bristol flight has just been transferred. Cardiff worked out over £400 more for the eight of us, which TUI have absorbed plus given us a sweetener to change. Happy days. [Post edited 24 Jan 21:44]

The flight I have booked is at 10.45am, an ideal time, a similar flight from Bristol is at5.45am meaning I would have to leave the house at 2.00am. It would take me and the Mrs the first 3 days of the holiday to get over that.
