The transfer window deadline day thread 21:03 - Jan 27 with 27764 views | KeithHaynes | Could be the most interesting day in years. Clubs are playing some serious chess games. And agents are going to ensure it’s better than any soap opera.

The transfer window deadline day thread on 06:19 - Feb 1 by Dr_Parnassus | That’s how I see it. Obafemi hasn’t played for the last 7 games and was on the bench for the 3 out of 4 previous as Martin dropped him. Some people expected Pato to leave, although I maintained he would probably stay. So in terms of options, we have swapped Whittaker for Obafemi and from what I have heard relationships are slowly being mended AGAIN with Pato who is in contention again for a place in the squad. It’s as we were, with the extra option of Pato potentially coming back. Martin has to just backtrack real quick with Whittaker and make him feel he is part of things. I can’t think of anyone we missed out on that is going to particularly be a miss for us. Grant would not have lasted 2 seconds under Martin, doesn’t run, lazy, loses possession, can’t pass. That sounds like a last minute desperation one. |
How you see it champ isn't always how it is, wouldn't you agree

The transfer window deadline day thread on 06:09 - Feb 1 by Dr_Winston | Probably a better outcome than wasting money on players that Martin either doesn't want, won't use properly or fall out with and drop from the squad. Nobody has left who anyone wanted to keep, and now we're facing the entertaining prospect of Russy having to swallow his pride and try to fit Whittaker into his plans, when really he'd have been hoping that the entire problem just went away. |
I agree about wasting money on players RM won’t play….as has been done. Surely this shows a total breakdown between Martin and the recruitment team, never mind the board. There is no denying this window has been a shambles delivered by people who are very well paid. The bit that sticks in my throat are the lies peddled before hand from them, building expectations amongst the fans about targets identified who will help the club kick on. Despite the support your local team no matter what brigade, there’s no way I’m parting with the best part of a grand to line the pockets of liars.
The transfer window deadline day thread on 12:25 - Feb 1 with 1676 views | onehunglow | It’s been rather a weird morning reading the posts. Only “ positive” is that we seem United in these owners ,owners in name only. Martin hasn’t helped himself but with these people pulling the strings he must steel deflated. That said, he has a youthful ,e Huber ant but mixed up Whittaker to call on …so play him with a flea in his year to justify his worth. What is appalling is the lack of a goalkeeper. We have one in name only and as soon as Benda was I jut Ed alarm bells should have rung . Are we to believe that there was no keeper available to come to us,even on loan .

The transfer window deadline day thread on 12:41 - Feb 1 with 1639 views | A_Fans_Dad | Perhaps all you fans that think you own the club and the Yanks don't should withhold your season tickets and set up a fans "go fund me page" to actually buy the club from them so that you really do own it. Just a thought like as there are many on here who could run it so much better than them. What do you think they would accept to unload such a now profitless project?

Looks like I was proven right. We couldn't even get a loan move over the line, what is the point?

I've sobered up this morning , we have kept hold of piroe, Cooper, cabango , natcham, fulton , manning and lati. Got whittiker back to try out for first team. We have Joseph out on loan , Brandon Cooper. I want to see veevers , bony , Dan Williams in the first team as been as this season will be a mid table finish. Let's get these youngsters first team football. I think while we have these senior players left we should have them mentoring the younger players. Russ will be gone in May, so will manning , lati , piroe. In June there will be another massive rebuild. Then the excuses that we are mid table will be the squad needs time to gel. This is a head ache

As much as wouldn’t miss Russ going, what is more important is the owners selling but then it is to whom. We could have been sold to much better consortium when a Prem League side. Nobody could me the likes of Bournemouth a better investment than us .

From Google AFB gross debt shot up by by £42m from £100m to £142m. The majority (£126m) is owed to the club's owner Maxim Demin via the Russian's company AFCB Enterprises Ltd, though club also took out £16m of bank loans in 2019/20. #AFCB £142m gross debt was 8th largest in the Premier League

Accounts tend to run a good period in arrears. There is no information that they have significantly cut their debts after getting promoted last season. One or two biggish sale like Danjuma.

Currently there is no evidence either way, except the debt is in loans that are interest free with no charges. Hardly a worry as long as the current ownership remains in place.

And this is well out of date because in December Bill Foley became owner of Bournemouth.

The transfer window deadline day thread on 00:03 - Feb 1 by dobjack2 | Total shambles - it would be interesting to know why all the deals we had apparently been working on turned to dust. Whittaker returns for Obafemi but what is his preferred/best position? Are there no decent right backs in the world? Was Grant a long term target or a last minute attempt by Winter with the Huddersfield connection? Will anyone at the club tell the truth about this mess? Tune into next weeks episode of Swansea City Soap opera. |
Right backs compared to left backs are ten a penny , it looks like we couldn't afford the penny

The problem is we are letting players from the first team leave and not replacing with the same quality. I know some of the youngsters have stepped up and done pretty well but at some point you need to bring a few in. We still have no natural RB, are left with a choice between Fisher and Webb in goal, have very little pace across most of the side and are lacking another option up top. Whilst i think Whittaker is probably good enough to take it on the messing around with recalls and touting him around only to not get a deal done is a bad situation and he may not fancy it now. For what it's worth i thought Grant was a decent option, has previously scored goals, 19 and 18 in 2 champ seasons.

The transfer window deadline day thread on 08:00 - Feb 1 by magicdaps10 | Notice some press guys who are quite loyal to the Swans and sit on the fence have really gone the other way this morning and are having knocks at the owners. Personally think that this is the beginning of the end for these Americans with us. Poor show and you will have to be digging deep to defend that joke of a window. |
"Personally think that this is the beginning of the end for these Americans with us." How, who will buy it off them for the money they will won't for it, we're hardly a going concern are we? We don't own the Stadium even, we don't own Fairwood not sure about Landore, but I doubt we own that, whoever bought it would have to first buy these clown's out and still have the wherewithal to move us forward, we're little old Swansea down in a corner of South Wales. We need to be honest with ourselves as fans. [Post edited 1 Feb 2023 18:11]

The transfer window deadline day thread on 08:39 - Feb 1 by SullutaCreturned | The thing there's, with the owners letting Martin down with lack of recruitment, it's still an excuse for him. Same thing happened to Cooper, owners copping out when with a few decent investments we could be looking up; after this window we are looking down instead. How many points from safety are we because the gap betwixt us and relegation isn't massive; a few injuries, illnesses, suspensions or fallings out and we could be in trouble. Do the owners really expect a play off push after this? Mind made up, not renewing our seasons. A message needs to be sent but enough of us need to send it for it to register. The books obviously need to be balanced but this is cut after cut and damaging our club...OUR club. |
I applaud your stance mate but do you honestly think we are going to get sucked into a relegation battle?

I did say if we suffer from some bad circumstances, illness, injury, suspensions or more arguments. As it stands we are 13 points ahead of Huddersfield with 18 games left though thy have a game in hand, do you think it's impossible given that we can draw a lot of games and lose some but not win many? It might be unlikely but it's not impossible. We have one first choice keeper, who was second choice until recently. We have Piroe and Cullen but no other strikers besides Whittaker who wants to be a 10. We have lati or Sorinola at right wing back....we have no cover in several positions... You tell me, is it impossible? Specially iven the schitt show we have witnessed this last transfer window.

It should be among the minimum expected from this squad. The squad hasn’t changed from before the window really, apart from players he didn’t want leaving. We had a top 6 to 8 squad before the window and we still do now.
