Forest and Cooper 21:33 - Jan 4 with 4165 views | Dr_Parnassus | As touched upon last week, they are really starting to click now. Pushed up into the mid table mix on the same points as Leicester and Leeds after another good result. Away wins in the Premier League are never easy, no matter who they are. Nice to see a traditionally big club like that back where they belong, good on them.

You have got to do what you have got to do to win away games in the Premier League. To go away from home in the EPL and restrict the home team to zero shots on target is an incredible achievement. Has it been done this season by anyone other than Man City (may not have even been done by them). Probably a cracking game for the defensive purists out there that enjoyed Mourinho at his peak.

Indeed what a load of rubbish that was. That Southampton team is worse than the one we lost to when we got relegated from the EPL. Forest were slightly better but still poor. Both will go down this season without a doubt

Why were the Forest fans singing come on you reds when they were playing in yellow awful game hopefully Notts will go down. Why Southampton gave Nathen Jones the job is beyond me was a disaster waiting to happen. If I had to pick 3 to go would be saints Forest and Bournemouth with Wolves escaping on the last day. Agree entirely, they are trending very well. I predict around a 13th/14th position finish this season, which looked unlikely not so long ago with such an influx of personnel.

Forest and Cooper on 23:24 - Jan 4 with 2907 views | Dr_Parnassus | Nowhere near an exact science of course, but you can get a general feel of league trajectories by last 10 game form table. It won’t churn out any data that claims to predict anything, but always gives a nice indication of where clubs could be trending. Forest are 14th in that table which marries up roughly with where I’d expect them to finish.

Agree definitely seems to be a battle between those four. Thar said, listening to Everton fans on the radio, many seem convinced they could be involved as well ?

Thankfully for Cooper, Forest fans seem to have a far more realistic approach to expectations.

£143 million spent - 6th highest spenders. Were I a Forest fan I would hope to see my team at least in the top ten based on that spend. Fulham, by comparison, have spent £36 million ( 14th highest spenders ) and sit in 7th. Their fans can be well pleased by their position so far this season. Just shows money cannot guarantee you success

That’s because the rest of the Premier League (barring Bournemouth who spend huge the season before) already had a squad of Premier League players. If every team had to re-buy their current squad like Forest did, most would have to spend far more than £150m to get their current squads back. For some it wouldn’t cover 2 players. Forest went up with a very middling Championship team who even spent very little at Championship level. For example, if we get promoted this season and spend £30m on new players, and Man City deem themselves happy with their team, and sign nobody. Would you expect to finish above them? The obvious answer is no. This is no different with Forest.

Forest and Cooper on 02:38 - Jan 5 with 2809 views | Dr_Parnassus | The below is what every club spent in 2022 alone, however this is obviously not including what the likes of the rest of the league already have in terms of squad value, which the 2022 figure is only adding to. Arsenal — £120m Aston Villa — £59.5m Bournemouth — £23.3m Brentford — £44m Brighton — £40m Chelsea — £273m Crystal Palace — £27m Everton — £84m Fulham — £72.9m Leeds — £91.8m Leicester — £15m Liverpool — £99.5m Man City — £119m Man Utd — £203m Newcastle — £118m Nottingham Forest — £152m Southampton — £70m Tottenham — £147m West Ham — £165.7m Wolves — £115m The squad value figures of the teams in the Premier League, which is a far more accurate view when looking at a newly promoted side.. they are listed below: 1. Man City €1.1b …………………………………. 2. Liverpool €928m 3. Chelsea €864.5m 4. Arsenal €759m 5. Man Utd €726.6m 6. Spurs €668.3m ………………………………… 7. Villa €467.6m 8. West Ham €460.5m 9. Newcastle €452.2m 10. Leicester €428.1m 11. Everton €408m 12. Wolves €388m 13. Brighton €334.6m 14. Brentford €321.9m 15. Southampton €316m 16. Palace €293.2m 17. Leeds €283.8m …………………………… 18. Forest €283.1m 19. Fulham €240m 20. Bournemouth €179m So Forest spending £140m was only to give them a fighting chance at being able to compete with other relegation candidates, and still what they spent, added to their squad - it still makes them in the bottom 3 most cash valuable squads. That’s what happens when you overachieve as a championship team and essentially be in the unique position of having to almost replace everybody upon promotion. He’s doing a sterling job. s this simply spend or Net spend (balance of transfer of money in for transfers and money out for transfers) Forest did not sell much as Cooper to his credit took the team up with players of low transfer values. Some argue "net" spend means nothing but it has to for FFP considerations. It mean nothing to the Sovereign wealth fund clubs but Forest are not that. What Huw Jenkins did with Swansea was extraordinary as is becoming increasing apparent. Burnley have shadowed Swansea's achievement with one previous dip into the Championship and will probably return to the pL this season. Swansea failed under Potter after he failed to spend the £7m transfer money given to him wisely with the desperately poor signings of Asoro, McKay, John and Celina,

Cooper is a brilliant manager but has a huge task on his hands with a very competitive league and a new squad to assimilate. Several players signed will come up short. They are looking to move on Emmanuel Dennis already but hope to get their money back. £15m. I suspect they will not make its as their rivals are better than them West Ham and Everton for example.
