We used to go to Saturday morning pictures at the Hammersmith Odeon. Hard to imagine these days, 1000s of unaccompanied kids causing mayhem in that iconic cinema. I also saw my first gig there, Queen, Christmas Eve, 1975. So yeah, that would be my favourite cinema.

Yeah trying to remember which one, we used to go the one near Whiteleys, guess that was the ABC?

No 7 bus, cinema, throw stuff about, walk down Westbourne grove, get a packet of chips for tuppence and 7 bus back to St Marks Road. A Perfect Saturday morning.

Prince of Wales, Harrow Road. Would go there most Sundays until we moved to the Bush.

Another vote for the Gaumont State, Kilburn, until it became a Mecca bingo.

The recently demolished one by Hammersmith Town hall in King street.

When it was one screen the queue for Batman (1989?) stretched to the great West Road.
I've never seen anything like it, it was like being back in 1937. (or how I'd imagine cinema going was)

I was brought up on the 'dark side' so it was either Odeon Wood Green or ABC Turnpike Lane, the poor usherettes deserved a medal for bravery, the crap they had to put up with from hundreds of screaming oiks.

ABC Palace and Saturday morning flicks in the sixties.
Strange how the Palace and the Odeon, both within 100 yards of each other (and in Kensal Green) were subtitled ‘Kensal Rise’.
I suppose the Rise was the more aspirational area.

Same, easy to bunk in the fire doors at both. We’d occasionally go to the ‘flea pit’ Coronet Cinema on Notting Hill Gate as well.

Putney and Richmond were my go to cinemas.
Then Kingston when they built the new one.

Occasional providers of half decent House music.

Saturday morning pictures at Kingsbury Odeon, they used to allow us in the circle until there were too many complaints from parents saying their children would come out covered in fizzy pop(yes another old link).

Another reason not to allow beer in view of the pitch

captains fantastic

South Harrow Odeon, Rayners Lane Odeon, Harrow Granada, Harrow ABC, Wembley Odeon and ABC.

I don't remember the South Harrow or Rayners Lane ones, but I remember going to see the Evel Knievel, Star Wars and Ghandi in the Harrow Odeon and ABC.

Think there might have been a cinema on Ruislip High St but don't remember it being open and seeing anything there.

Now have our own Cineworld complex in South Ruislip.

Poll: With no leg room, knees killing me, do I just go now or stay for the 2nd half o?

We were dropped off at the cinema in Willesden library most Saturdays as kids in the early 90s for their Saturday morning movie club. Probably the only cinema I have/had an emotional attachment too.

Wasn't a bad life then as it was it was often straight off to W12 post movie.

ABC cinema Edgware.

We bunked off and snuck in to see Emmanuelle, only to find half of our teachers in there who had cried off sick.

Never knowingly right.
Poll: How long before new signings become quivering wrecks of the players they were?

That was my fave cinema as a teen. Saw Jaws there (got covered in popcorn when the kid in front of me freaked out when the head rolled out of the boat), Carrie (my best mate screamed at the end, was ribbed endlessly afterwards), Grease (still love that movie!). Always went for a Wimpey on King Street with my mates afterwards.

Who remembers the Electric cinema on Portobella road in the early 70s long before it got its trendy make-over? It was the worst flea pit I've ever been in. Once went in there with a friend who sat down and had the whole seat totally collapse under him. It showed some good films though and I'm sure I saw the Woodstock film in there.

Westbourne Grove and ABC Hammersmith were the big ones for me back in Raiders of the Lost Ark/Ghostbusters days.

Started going to the Electric in my teens. Still a proper old school arthouse fleapit at that point. Saw some things that blew my mind, and at least some of them were actually the films.

Fond of the old Whiteleys cinema too 'cos it's where I took the Mrs on our first date.
