Raducanu update - French Open 15:34 - May 25 with 10590 views | Dr_Parnassus | Second Grand Slam of the year. She was very fortunate to navigate past 184 rank Linda Noskova in the first round, who was a set and a break up before choking completely… she today gets obliterated by Aliaksandra Sasnovich in round 2 who is only just in the top 50. Losing 6-1 6-1 after winning the first 6-3. Wasn’t even a contest after Sasnovich settled. She was also knocked out of the first round of Rome in the last tournament. I wonder if there is anyone left still claiming she is the second coming of Serena…

Raducanu update - French Open on 05:43 - Jun 7 with 1002 views | Dr_Parnassus | Golubic is the draw for Nottingham round 1. World number 55 from Switzerland. She has a game suited to grass with her low knife slices and is crisp at the net, but Emma back in front of a much needed home crowd and needing to find form, which she also did on grass last year. Raducanu is $1.50 (1/2) favourite but I wouldn’t be backing her at that price, still too short. Wouldn’t overly shock me to see her crash out early yet again. Coin flip match in my opinion, if Raducanu goes though I reckon it will be in a very tight affair. I’d be backing Golubic +5.5 and +4.5 games and taking advantage of the inflated price.

She has a funny habit of doing that when losing. She will play Wimbledon, it’s a Dr P guarantee.

But she has already won a grand slam you must have been very proud of her.

She couldn’t have been mate. 1.44 and 1.50 was her price when they went up, I backed Golubic early as thought Emma may drift as some smart money came in. But it held pretty firm to be fair. This is a firm in Australia that uses Paddy’s prices, they are a subsidiary of Paddy and Betfair under the Flutter holding company. I was trying to get $500 chunks down on Golubic all day hoping they would let one slip through by mistake. Usually they only let me on to win between $10-$100 or something - they know who I am so my account is heavily restricted. But they kept reducing my stake to zero. Managed to sneak a few things by where my stake was reduced to a few sheckles by the system. But it’s better than a punch in the arm.

Raducanu update - French Open on 20:07 - Jun 7 with 812 views | Dr_Parnassus | Golubic drawn to face Heather Watson in round 2. Golubic $1.53 favourite as it stands. However again I see this as too short and a reaction to beating “a name”. Watson loves a home crowd, has beaten her on grass before and had a good win in the last round against Volynets a young American that I rate highly for the future. Golubic probably correctly instilled as favourite, but only just in my opinion - so I’ll be backing the outsider again here and trying to sneak on what I can. Watsons price is too good to turn down and will be far closer than it suggests. I’ll be going the +4.5 and +5.5 games again plus the outright win.

She may very well never win another, but when she did become a grand slam champion you must have been bouncing off the walls in utter ecstasy one can imagine Dr. P rolling around in excitement and happiness. [Post edited 8 Jun 2022 17:44]

Very happy for her yes, she seems a lovely girl. But she won’t win another as I said at the time, she isn’t good enough unfortunately.

But she was good enough to win that grand slam, so the joy you must have felt when she became a grand slam champion may be able to override the disappointment of your belief of her not being able to win another, so that hopefully should make you feel a little better.

Watson lost. Watson lost with 4.5 games start. Watson lost with 5.5 games start. I'm not laughing at you getting all those bets wrong, but how odds on was Watson with 4.5 and 5.5 games start ?

Laughing? Why on earth would you be laughing? It’s what betting is, you don’t win every single one. You take the value and allow the profit to generate over time. Please don’t tell me you don’t understand the concept of betting and you think you win every single bet you place? It’s the nature of probability, as I’ve taught you before. If you take 11/10 on heads, and it lands on tails - it’s a great bet still. It means you expect to win half the time, expect to lose half the time but the value you take builds a profit at the end of the sequence. 1000 coin flips. You take 11/10 odds and place £10 on each flip. You lose 500 times (£5000), you win 500 times (£5500) = £500 profit. Losing matches is a guarantee in any profitable plan.

She was yes, which is why the chances of such a low bar being set in any future Grand Slams is extremely unlikely. If it does happen again, she then has to take advantage again - which is also extremely unlikely. But when she did win, I was happy for her yes. I am happy for anyone who wins a Grand Slam.

I didn’t get them wrong, I priced it up perfectly as I just taught you. Again you don’t seem to understand the nature of long term profitability. If I back Tails at 11/10, and it lands on “heads” - I didn’t get it “wrong”. It’s absolutely the correct decision to have made, because by making these value selections is what generates the profit… hence why as you can see above bookmakers barely accept my money. A lost value play is expected and part of the plan, it’s not an error. If you want to know what prices are retrospectively then email your bookmaker I guess.
