Quiet on here on 19:29 - Feb 14 by swan65split | A poll on another site , showed a varied mix of the result. performance overall was improved , and suffering from a confidence loss as well. Its going to be a season of mixed results .frustrating at times but hey ho I survived the Gregg years. |
We were odds on favourites, were home, against a side with a worse points per game ratio than us. If we played Forest Green tomorrow the poll would have a mixed result too, despite everyone clearly expecting us to win. If everyone had to make one choice where their life depended on it, they would pick Swansea. My question would be, if there are really loads that were expecting us to not win are on here, why aren’t they starting threads about the amazing and unbelievable result then? This was an expected win, probability wise it’s simply a fact.

Or perhaps they don’t exist in the number you are ridiculously attempting to portray? Thanks for your attention and your continued concern. Catullus seems to be the only person who expressed his prediction to be anything other than a win on Saturday. Maybe we should wrap him on the wrist for not creating thread after thread about beating a team in a worse position then us… at home. All of the posters that seemed most critical this season all to a man backed the team to beat them. Common sense you see, nobody has said we will never win another game. Not to my knowledge anyway. We should beat the bad teams in the league, we have spent nearly £6m this season. Our team is strong, it’s the fact we aren’t good enough to be consistent that is the issue. Ridiculously? Yep , I know what your trying, don't bother . Ive seen it before . Football, its a funny old game , something we've all heard over the years. I am old enough to have witnessed in life, through work and other things that you take nothing for granted , especially football. Whoever thought over the years we would beat Liverpool away in 64 and the 3-2 win a few years ago, nearly beat the dirty Leeds away when we were in Div 4, beat Spurs away with Ardiles and company. Lose to Nuneaton, and Minehead. Those are the main ones that just come to mind, there are many a game through the years like that. Waffle on as much as you like for your own satisfaction, it passes 5 min of my time, and probably a loads of yours. As far as FGR is concerned if it was away my main concern would be where could I get a decent meat pie or Cornish pasty, and HOPE to see a good game, and a win, the same as I do for every game. I've learnt, in life take nothing for granted, and nothing is at it seems.

Yes ridiculously. You are trying to make out this was some shocking win and everyone is quiet because they are gutted. Just nonsense stuff. We were odds on favourites and were expected to win, we should be beating teams like that at home. Those kinds of games have never garnered huge talking points so pretending this is any different is just bizarre. You can keep tooting that silly horn along with one or two others if you like, but you aren’t garnering support from anyone, not even those that are your way inclined. It’s way too transparent and you need to be cleverer in your attention seeking.

Quiet on here on 11:47 - Feb 15 with 874 views | onehunglow | We are still all missing the point . Its like this Imagine your average game We might go a pub before hand and after queueing a bluddy age for a bottle of Perrier get down to the game.We mostly agree .We all want a win. At the game,we go behind after our keeper strokes the ball directly to the opposition or we allow a break away goal to be scored totally against the run of play even though we've gpt the ball all the time but instead of shooting ,actually pass the ball sideways. We moan and groan and slag off the manager for his coaching-OH YES WE DO. Then we score ,maybe get another then leave happy and have tea/dinner with smiles on our faces. Most of us are decent family folk and have worked for many years to raise a proud family, who think we are nuts to get so upset when we lose. Until the next time,we agree. None of us deserve to be referred to as scum/vile/mentallly ill -which has happened before this site was raised from the Gutter. Get a grip.Get angry-be happy and ask questions

As you say never take anything in life for granted. I know that sadly as much as most. Football wise, I went to the game hoping we would win, but still deep down wondering which Swans would turn up. The one that for example tore apart an ( admittedly poor at the time) Cardiff side. Or the totally inept side we saw on Tuesday at Stoke ? At times in the first half and especially after conceding, I thought "Oh dear, here we go" After scoring the equaliser I was hoping we would win, but until the second goal went in was nervous and figured a draw was better than a defeat. Of course along comes Christie and Piroe and all is well. However, whilst I always hope we win and against teams way below us expect us to win, I like you have seen too much football to be surprised when the supposedly poor opposition win, whether because they have upped their game or we have turned in a poor performance ( or a mixture of both ). Bristol on Sunday were a team of similar standing to us in the league so we IMHO had no "right" to expect a win. Was definitely a " happy clapper" at the end though [Post edited 15 Feb 2022 13:03]

Nobody is saying we had a god given right to win. But anyone suggesting we were not expected to win is a liar. We were odds on favourites, we were home, despite our poor season we still earned more points per game than them. I don’t know why people are so hell bent on pretending this is some incredibly unexpected result that the forum should be ablaze about. Well I do know why…

Question is why we are so prone to infighting over that which we all love. That applies to armchair, high chair or garden bench fans as much as Row 5 West Stand |
Think it all points to the fact that social media platforms have spawned a sector where everyone is an expert and their opinions are all that matters. Everyone seems to be embroiled in Culture Wars where blame needs to be dished out at every opportunity. Don’t know if you’ve listened to the Jon Ronson podcast ‘Then Something Changed’ ? A great listen ðŸ‘🻠
