Some nervy moments for Fisher today. It’s a step up and I’m sure he’s nervous. Game time will help.

Waste of money is going to cost Hamer back as soon as possible

Never knew getting old would happen so quick!

First half we were nervy, Cabango was like a lost kitten.
2nd half we were very good.

Special shout out to Obafemi, real intent from the lad.

Clear our need for a ball playing centre half with leadership qualities.

A frustrating first half but a much better second half, thought Obafemi had a good game.

Important win.

He is an accident waiting to happen.
Utterly a player we did not need.
He does not command and his attempts at pretty football are abysmal.

We can play far better without giving away so much.

I truly feel for Hamer

I agree John, he's small for a keeper to, Hamer needs to come back in ASAP yes he's got a mistake in him, but Fisher is gonna put years on me, Hamer has got presence as well and comfortable with crosses.

And then in the second half we improved by becoming more direct.
Now if you want to carry on having a go at me ,get it right .

Not a game we deserved to win 3-1 if we're being honest.

Another day the aimless passing around the back and several errors doing so would have cost us dearly. There needs to be some sort of indication by now that there's a purpose behind it and there simply isn't. It's Worlds away from the previous possession based styles that we've used.

Still, biggest difference was that we took our chances and they didn't. Obafemi had an excellent game (the only one who did in the first half) and deserved more than one goal out of it. Piroe's goal will do his confidence good too.

You can sense the frustration in the crowd when we are doing it, we even do it when there are much better options available.

Swansea City v Bristol City : Matchday Thread MATCHDAY ! on 15:59 - Feb 13 by Catullus

It shouldn't be. The second half was great, we had purpose, pace and looked a real threat which in the end we actually were. Still I have to ask why was Obafemi the only one driving forward in the first half? We made our own problems and it's just well Bristol are too rubbish to take advantage.

The second half it was all change. We were so much better in every department. We need to be starting games like that, we need to keep making problems for the oppo and cut out making problems for ourselves.

Again with Obafemi and Piroe on together we look more a threat and it was great for them both to score.

Not that everything is perfect. Still too much pointless passing in our own half, still not taking attacking chance and playing the so called safe pass and that led to their goal. We were on the corner of their box but instead of crossing it was passed back to central mid and it led to their goal.
An observation, never give the ball to Fisher on his left peg!

Lets keep that second half going, lets take it into the next game, and the next and the next and keep doing it. lets not see that first half team again, or at least only rarely, please. At he end of the first half today I did hear boos, it was pretty poor. We are a Jeckyll and Hyde team and I only want to see Hyde please, lets be the monster that rips the oppo to pieces, not the mild mannered doctor that helps the oppo.

Refreshing post.
Fisher almost gifted them a classic blooper goal, playing tippy tapping a yard from goal in horrendous conditions .

He s utterly ropey .

As for Cabango, seen today as a lamb, it shows we can all have opinions so Guthrie /thrash,understand that simple fact.

We want the best. That is all.

Right before we scored the first I was thinking Obafemi and Christie had been useless (again).

I did miss a lot of the first 20 or so though.

Fisher is mostly a spectator.
As had a purchase as we ve had for a while.
We have simply dumped Hamer for this .

Russy fans…is he any better than Hamer. Why buy him. Why not concentrate and secure players in positions we really do need .

The more direct card is out again.

The 2nd half was superb I thought, controlled with some cracking inter change passing, game opened up and so did our movement.

I agree with you on Fisher but Cabango and Burns didn't help him much today.

Ah, come on give the boy a break, he's played 4 games in a team lacking in confidence, with a different defence in each game.

He'll be fine, there's no way Martin would drop him, and I don't blame him.

Early days, and Hamer will be gone in the Summer anyway

You give it out, you take it back it`s all part of the game

Direct is when you pass and move forward as that is where the opposition goal is. Get it between the sticks and it gives you goals. We got three today by doing just that . Funny that.
Fisher sideways to full back to Grimes and then into touch almost cost us today.

We do not need to play like that ..

Obefemi is coming good and is ….direct too. I mean..

I think today he let himself down badly a couple of times but as I previously posted, Burns and Cabango didn't help him out much and both were very nervy..... Weather didn't help.

I am a big fan of Downes, for me he is a central midfielder but you can see the temptation to play him centre half, Felt more solid when he dropped in as the central 3rd.

Hamer 1.93m, Fisher 1.89m so he’s not really that small.
Agree Hamer is more commanding in the air & has proven a pretty good shot stopper. Fisher is definitely more comfortable with ball at his feet & passing.

We could have waited to the summer to buy a keeper & spent the January transfer budget on O’Riley or the Brighton player

Improved performance today, just cut down on the percentages of playing out from the back and go more direct. We won a fair amount of ball going direct and with that we had more players over the halfway line to cause more problems in their half. When we play out from the back the whole team is too deep and struggle to get bodies in their half, we just don't have pace in the team to push teams backwards when we do break the first or second press.

Even when you know, you never know?

Absolutely we did, as poor as I thought the first half was, Bristols chances weren't from their good play but from our mistakes. They are quite poor considering they have some useful attacking players.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

You sensed when we equalised that they were there for the taking.
This style relies a lot of confidence and the interchanging when the confidence was up was very good. We played some decent football 2nd half.

We were more direct but not with many long balls. We passed forward more and more quickly and we moved forward more quickly too, to support.

We used Obafemi's pace better too, playing some balls through and his pace opened up space for others.

I thought Martin got a substitution bang on too when he took Pato off for Smith. pato is creative but he's no great tackler, Smith (for me) was exactly the right choice at the right time.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?
