Of course not. Especially with our chairman publicly begging for £1,000,000 from the supporters because the club is in financial difficulties. We are in an incredibly weak position to negotiate.

So are the buying clubs when they know they could be competing with every PL side for his signature

Prices will be down across the board. Joe Rodon money from a few months ago would probably buy you proven quality now.

On the positive side, wage demands are likely to be lower.

Every Premier League club? People are acting as if he's the most exciting teenage prospect in the league.

He'll be 23 years old in less than 5 months time. He hasn't stood out much at all in a dismal mid table second tier squad. Why on Earth would every Premier League club be pursuing him?

He'll do very well to be picked up by a team fighting at the bottom of the Premier League, similar to McBurnie.

Give something back Joe, leave a real hero, not a mercenary.

OK I've changed it.

I'd imagine Joe is on peanuts comparatively speaking.

McBurnie plays for Sheff Utd who are 7th. A game in hand in over those in 5th & 6th.

2 points behind Manchester United with a game in hand.

We Have a Young Kid called Jacob Jones. Young local boy called up to the U23's even though he's just 18.
Watch out for him

I'd be amazed if Rodon is on anything like eight grand a week.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

Had a few shockers for the u23s but started looking more the part this calendar year. Played the start of last season when he had just turned 17 in an awful game at Oxford.

Been in first team training sessions. Billy Reid really liked him iirc. Left back's always a tricky position so if you get a promising one they tend to come through pretty quickly.

He was a regular in the last year of his contract when he signed his last deal. Always been plenty of buzz and 9 months previous certain people had been whispering loudly about a deal to Bournemouth being all but done. An unknown on apprentice wages Joe is not.

Well...yeah.

An unknown on apprentice wages he certainly isn't. Earning nearly half a million pounds a year as a still relatively unproven 22 year old at a club in cash saving mode he's unlikely to be either.

£8k a week is below average in this division believe it or not, and even though we're in cash-saving mode we were still a recently relegated club receiving parachute payments, and he was a guaranteed starter by the time the deal was eventually done.

Many of his teammates were and still are on considerably more, a good number of them not even playing. His agent's no mug.

edit: Grimes and Fulton both received extensions around the same time and they were both on that sort of money in the PL (Grimes was on £10k basic straight from Exeter). It's crazy money but for young players you don't pay them the value of the labour, it's inflated to keep them at the club while they improve, and maybe one day you cash-in and recoup all your investment and more.

Isn't he out of contract next month?

A lot of them are. Imagine there's more uncertainty than ever in the academy groups, but we tend to leave extensions late, and some of the lads do have extension clauses that can be activated.
