I’m well aware that Duckenfield done many things wrong on the day, but football fans in the late 80’s ( of which I was one) were no angels.
Entering of grounds without paying was a regular occurrence, some clubs has a reputation for it more than others.
& I know the majority (& an enquiry) disagree that Hillsborough was the fans fault. |

My thoughts... All the people who died were innocent victims. Most of which had arrived early to guarantee a good view.
1. The fencing erected to stop hooligans getting onto the pitch. Blame -FOOTBALL HOOLIGANS.
2. The choice of a dilapidated Hillsbrough for this semi-Final! Blame - ENGLISH FA
3. The choice of ends, giving the Hillsbrough Kop end to Forest was a mistake - English FA (and Sheffield Wednesday?)
4. The gates being opened but the middle gate being left open - DAVID DUCKENFIELD
5. Too many fans without tickets trying to get in. Blame - Fans of Liverpool (just look at videos of the 1986 FA Cup Final). |

He lied to the Taylor Inquiry and the FA that Liverpool supporters had forced open Gate C and in this trial put the blame on his superior at the time, who has since died and couldn't refute his claim
He couldn't give evidence now because HE suffers from PTSD after what He witnessed that day.
Some of the the prosecution witnesses now suffer from dementia and some of their evidence in the trial contradicted their earlier statements, others had died or were unfit to appear in court.
In earlier inquests he admitted he had “limited knowledge” of the role as match commander and added: “Probably I wasn’t the best man for the job on the day.” What an admission!!!
The only thing that saved this incompetent, lying b@stard is the 30 year delay in getting justice for these 96 victims, which then led the jury finding him not guilty as they couldn't be sure of Duckenfield's guilt beyond reasonable doubt. [Post edited 28 Nov 2019 19:57]

But one thing i've always maintained is that giving Liverpool a relatively small terracing enclosure, whilst Nottingham forest had a terracing which was larger than the kop end was a massive error. But one thing i've always maintained is that giving Liverpool a relatively small terracing enclosure, whilst Nottingham forest had a terracing which was larger than the kop end was a massive error. The main mistakes were made well before the day in question, and well before Duckenfield took control. |

It's a fair point and the evidence supports that there were no ticketless Liverpool fans who forced entry. I just firmly believe decisions made prior to the game set the clock ticking. It’s quite obvious from your posts you know the score about football culture in the 80s ( & before) and to believe Liverpool ( or some other fans) wouldn’t try to get into a ground without tickets is pretty astonishing
We’ve all seen the footage & both the right & left hand side of the enclosures are packed when more fans tried to enter the ground.

So are we saying the jury of ordinary people, who heard all the evidence and presumably have no axe to grind, have come to the wrong verdict? It's always possible to disagree with the verdict of a jury in any trial, but you can't say they're wrong. |

Duckenfield was being represented by the establishment as he was a senior police officer and they wouldn't tell lies and behave in such a manor would he/
The establishment could make a case for Hitler being a rather nice chap and misunderstood or maybe accusing Oscar Shindler of taking advantage of forced labour and Marketeering during the war, and convince any jury that is the case.
Of all the recent misscarriages of justice, Eg, the Darnels, Guilford 4, the Cardiff 6 or whatever, have any of the senior investigating officers who totally fabricated all the evidence ever been done for Perjury or perverting the cause of justice, no because they my friend are the establishment. | | | |
