The proposed loan of Fede 19:49 - Jul 23 with 19319 views | oldcob | to Newcastle. Am I the only one who sees no sense in this? Newcastle gain, they get an experienced Premiership International centre back. Fede gains he's playing the standard of football he wishes. Apart from saving Fede's wages, what are Swansea City getting out of this? I can't see anything. Why would we agree to this? [Post edited 23 Jul 2018 20:01]

The proposed loan of Fede on 20:18 - Jul 23 with 5326 views | omarjack | Unfortunately..Fede wants to play at a "high level"..If we keep him "against his will" he'll play like sh!t and we'll have no use for him. Krasnodar were willing to pay 6 m I think? Who knows..But Fede clearly doesn't want to go to Russia..It's even a downgrade to his current situation. So if Newcastle swoops in for a loan deal and he wants to go what other choice do we have? Do we wait for a better offer from another "high level" club? Relegation is a real nightmare FFS.. The proposed loan of Fede on 20:28 - Jul 23 with 5248 views | jack247 | It’s the situation we’re in. Relegation was always going to happen at some point, but it really didn’t have to be last season when the league was pretty weak. We just can’t afford PL wages anymore. Anyone earning them and good enough to attract PL interest could go, no matter how lopsided the deal.

So far we've only lost one first team player that wasn't out of contract (and unwilling to sign a new one). If they're trying to have a fire sale they're doing a poor job of it.

Nobody would be dull enough to have given them lucrative contracts without inserting huge relegation clauses (considering our the league position at the time) ......would they ?

All we are doing is prolonging the problem until next season when they all come back off loans. So if we get promoted would we take them back..NO as they not gonna be any better a season on. And if we don't with less parachute payments again what will we do. Why not just let them go for small fees and really refresh the squad without the problem arising again after the season. All we are doing is brushing the problems under the carpet. And on current transfers and targets we seem to be looking at it from a mid table championship side already.

something else we didn't have a plan for? Surely not. Presumably with Jenkins steady hands on the tiller there would have been a detailed 2 tier plan for each scenario. That's what he's paid for right? Or just a last minute scramble and hope for the best approach that has typified everything he has done for the last 4 years. WTF is he still doing there?

The proposed loan of Fede on 23:11 - Jul 23 with 4748 views | Kerouac | We have been dicked in the transfer market since Laudrup left. Any business that continually sells it's assets for less than market rates is going to end up in trouble. Any business that leases out it's assets without making a sufficient profit on those leases is going to create a cash flow crisis for itself. This is where we are, and we continue with the same strategies. Un-fukking-believable, What we should do, now. Fernandez does not leave for less than his market value. A player with his experience, with his CV, should be able to command a decent transfer fee. We should be spending all day every day calling every suitable club in Europe giving it the hard sell, we should explain that we are only willing to listen to offers up to a certain date or he will remain with us for the season. A comparable defender that Rafa is also interested in is Fabian Schär at Deportivo la Coruna. Similar age, international footballer, similar traits...only difference is that he hasn't proved he is suitable for the Premier League, whereas Fede has. Newcastle are rumoured to be preparing a bid of £3.5-£4m. This shows that we should be getting at least £5m for Fede...if no other club is interested perhaps we should consider offering him cut price for £4m. As long as we are sure we can replace him with McKenna for the rumoured £3.5m... Bartley and Fede gone for £8m+ plus their wages of £69k/week off the books (that's around £3.2m a year) McKenna and Cian Harries taking their slots in the squad for an outlay of £3.5m and wages of around £30k/week (that's around £1.5m a year) ...which results in nearly £5m in our account and wages on those 2 positions slashed by 50 odd %. Vs Loan Fede out saving £42k/week (£1.9m a year) and replace him with ???????? Do we spend most of the Bartley money on McKenna? That would end with us; £500k up with the same savings in wages...only we get the problem back next summer. Either we or his agent can find him a club willing to pay £4m, FFS the Baggies paid that for Bartley. When a bid comes in, if he doesn't want to take that offer because he fancies Newcastle, f*ck him. Keep him here (allow Potter to manage him as he sees fit), sell different players to generate some cash and reduce wages (Clucas? Naughton? Olsson? Narsingh? Amat? J.Ayew? etc.) Look to loan out Routledge, Montero and Dyer as well as A. Ayew and Bony to reduce wages...do what you have to do but don't let Newcastle and Fede dick us on this deal. When we were in the Prem I don't recall ourselves being able to pick up relegated Prem teams most experienced international defenders for a season at no cost, do you? It is the allowing of other clubs to dick us which has led to this situation. [Post edited 23 Jul 2018 23:14]

The transfer fee isn’t the problem. More likely is that Newcastle and other clubs won’t pay him the sort of lucrative salary we gave him.

Well if Fede wants to play at a "higher level" and the market says "yes, that's possible but not on those wages...after all your team was relegated and we have some doubts"... then he either accepts a wage cut (and shows some real ambition, effectively backing himself to be a Prem footballer for the foreseeable future) or stays put, shuts up and gets on with his highly paid job. Surely?

He hasn’t been selected for them in essentially the whole time he has been with us. 4 years ago his last wasn’t it? Most of what I have read in those last 4 years is how rubbish he is and how we wasted £8m. Now people are crying that he is being taken off the payroll. Is there a more fickle group of fans out there? Hard pushed to find them if you ask me. Next there will be uproar that Routledge is going elsewhere and how much of an asset he could be.

This isn’t how footballers and their agents operate. They’ll be trying to engineer a move where he keeps his lucrative salary and plays in the prem. The agent will know we are desperate to slash the wage bill so it will happen and we’ll carry on paying a high % of his wage.

Fernandez should command a 6-7 m fee at minimum imo..His CV is not to be underestimated and in fact even if we get paid 7 m we're being too generous in today's f*cked up market..you're saying we should be willing to accept 4 m for him which imo is simply not enough..We should get this 4 m + the 3 m to sign McKenna (if we're actually trying to sign him) As for a loan deal it's just taking the piss..Weren't they talking about Benitez's 100 m "war chest" BS? It's looking like Ashley's getting back to his stingy habits. Signing KI on a free is a proof of that. Plus they just sold Chancel Mbemba for 7 m..This money should be ours. I wish we can simply convince Fede to stay..To tell him that these terms NUFC are offering are insulting. And that if no clubs come knocking with satisfying offers he'll simply have to stay and perform for the sake of what has been. But me asking for loyalty from footballers is just asinine. I should know better at this stage. [Post edited 24 Jul 2018 1:07]

Well this is where I 'm saying we are going wrong. We are handing power to the player. We should sit him down and spell it out for him. Swansea City are paying him more than bigger, richer, clubs in more lucrative leagues are prepared to pay him. Therefore we are deserved of his respect and professionalism. Explain we need to get our money's worth, give him a role representing our club in the community after training every day. Explain that if he wants to down tools or rock the boat in anyway we shall in return make his lack of professionalism and ingratitude VERY public. Tell him that we are prepared to sit him for 2 years (not even reserve football and ruin what's left of his career. See how long it takes him to sign that deal with Newcastle (or whomever) for £30,000 pounds a week (£1.5m a year) instead of remaining at Swansea for the £42,000 pounds a week (£2m a year) + the misery of another 2 years with us and effectively dogshite wages from the club that takes him when his contract is up, IF he can find a club prepared to take him after we have sat him for 2 years and made his shortcomings known to potential suitors. He'd be out of here like a shot. If not? You would only have to carry this through once and the rest of your players would then get the message, which would benefit the club for years.

I think he is worth £6-7m in this market as well, but I am saying IF the market is not prepared to pay that (because they figure we are in a weak negotiating position and are talking to his agent about how to engineer as cheap a move as possible in order to offer an improved contract) we should lower the price a touch...first to £5m, then to £4m...in order to secure a decent transfer fee that will help fund restructuring of the squad. I am saying that surely this is preferable to the LOAN option...which really is taking the piss. Why aren't we punting him about? West Ham are looking for a Centre-back as well aren't they? Burnley too? We need to secure a transfer fee for this fella and we need to do it quick.
