No starting berth for Llorente 13:20 - Oct 28 with 5481 viewsAnotherJohn

On the bench again for Tottenham today, even though Kane is out. Sad to see a player who could have kept us up getting splinters in his bum week after week. Thought he did well against R. Madrid when he did start.

Let’s hope he doesn’t get on so The Res can up his Tammy stats.

He's just come on and I don't recognise him without the facial fuzz!

Sell Llorente, get Bony.

Superb business. Absolutely top draw.

It was that or keep him and replace him with nobody come seasons end. Would he start ahead of Tammy? Its a no from me, especially with his lack of pre season and obvious lack of match sharpness.

Just a shame it was done so late which narrowed our options to replace him. Still was a deal that had to be made.

No for me, it's just common sense we broke even and we got a dud

We haven't broken even though, we now have an asset on our books. He has only been out for 3 games man.

I dònt disagree re selling Llorente when he wouldn't sign a new contract, but Bony is only an asset if his resale value exceeds the value of his contract don't forget.

If not, he's a liability.

Touch and go I suspect.

No an asset would be a young up and coming player not someone crocked past his best.

I really, really, really hope I'm wrong.

It's because Llorente is not good enough. We did well to get what we had from him.

But his all round game is just not compatible with the Premier League.

I have told you all this. I did say he would be bench material wherever he went and brought on as a Peter Crouch for the last 15 minutes.

Not just a resale asset though Lisa, he is a playing asset. If he didn't sign for us then there is a hole in the squad that needs filling.

He is surely better than anyone we can/could have picked up on a fee, and by that I mean a genuine free. Not a Gomis or Ayew type of 'free'.

I will never have a go at the club for making this transfer, the only criticism is that it wasn't forced through earlier, but that is something we have been guilty of for a long time.

Thought he did well when he came on. He was always going to be a bench warmer when he went to Spurs regardless. The same as Scotty and Wilf when they went to Man City.
Essential players for us are bench warmers for the big boys regardless.
Btw anyone know if ithere is any evidence that we offered Llorente a new contract and he refused to sign it? Not seen that one.

We sold Llorente for £12m - he would have gone for £0 in a year.

We bought Bony for £12m

Therefore anything we get for Bony is surplus to what we would have got for Llorente.

Still an asset at this moment in time.

That's assuming that we stay in the premier league and that he is productive because you do realise we have to pay his wages for several years?

So hypothetically we get relegated and he's a dud. We've lost a considerable amount of money.

We would have to pay anybodies wages though. Whether it is Bony or someone we bought instead. Paying Llorente's considerable wages for the remaining year of his contract when he would probably be a bit-part player and then having to sign someone else next year from funds sourced elsewhere would be far worse.

This is all hypothetical stuff, the reality as I see it accounts aside.

We've lost one of our best players and replaced him with someone inferior. To me that's poor business whether he's here next season or not.

Its not hypothetical. He was leaving for nothing.

The epitome of poor business would have been to not sell him.
