I like him- but he couldn't hit a brick shithouse with a banjo. Why not see if he can't make a change to cover the RB position. He wouldn't be the first winger to convert to full back. He can't cross and he can't score goals but he can track back and defend....might be an option if we can't get a specialist in.

He can track back but he can't defend, you've got to be able to tackle to do that.

If we're looking for roles for the young man, as he's a fast runner he could be used to get onto the pitch quickly when there's an injury and relay the problem back to the bench.

Can't cross, can't defend, can't tackle without giving away a free-kick.

Perfect free upgrade on Naughton.

I counted he had 9 touches, one decent pass and lost the ball 6 times. Brilliant.

with stats like that, I expect to see him sign a new improved four-year contract any day soon and PC to come out and say it's like signing a new player

Shouldn't be anywhere near a prem league team, at his time of life

Unfortunately, and with due deference to his great service to SCFC in the past....

Routledge is now painfully....SHITE....end of.

I never want to see him play for us again. He just cannot beat people. There's a Routledge playing for TNS, which is about Wayne's playing level now.

Yes there was - I was as shocked as anyone. My heart sank when I saw him coming on. He is now seriously shite. His performance consisted of losing the ball, or giving it away, or misreading the pass to him, or fouling the defender trying to nick the ball off him. Waste of a shirt.

Absolutely right- these guys have made a lot of money over the years, but when the time comes to hang up their boots at the prem level is blatantly obvious. We cannot keep long serving players on any longer than their ability warrants. In Wayne's case- great servant but bench player at very best.

Not his fault he gets picked but he would struggle to get in a championship team. Shows our lack of nous in the transfer market for a number of seasons, and some clown give him a four year contract, it beggars belief.

It was a nice simple chip into space. Worth his weekly salary alone! It's sad that likes of Routs, Rangel and Leon are still expected to get us out of the shit again.

Routledge on 10:10 - Aug 20 with 5466 viewsjacabertawe

My view is that we seem to be going into the new season overly reliant on players who are just not good enough at this level and that fact may well cost us dearly, without good replacements.
Ayew is proving a huge disappointment so far, Naughton a curate's egg player, Fer just not good enough overall and Routledge - good workhorse that he is - should be moved on. Ki is too much of "on his day he's good", with not too many of those days.
At least we know that Rangel will rarely start a game, but will give his now limited all when he does come on.
And so on .......
