Sounds like we didn't deserve to lose by 2. Shame. With a full-strength team (and eleven men!) we would've done much better.

Still, it's a poor result but it was always going to be a tough game. Thankfully there isn't long till we go again.

Strangely looking forward to watching the full match replay to see if any of my impressions of the match change from listening to it.

Fully expected today to get the better of us.

Absolutely seething that yet again we appear to have learnt NOTHING from the defensive disasters of last season. We have made some truly magnificent signings in attack, however our defence is absolutely atrocious. I cannot actually believe we have gone into the first game of the season with Mcnulty starting at LCB.

Watched tonight for the first time in three years on iFollow. If that was what Dale are going to serve up this season we will be much nearer the bottom than the top. Defence is shocking, can't single anyone out all collectively bad. Not much better up front to be honest, although having ten men didn't help.

The CH had until the Bury game to illustrate they could be consistent or we'd have to look at a loan signing at the very least.

We now have to look at a loan signing at the very least.

Rathbone was excellent and man on the match by a wide margin.

Hill is the only person who seemingly can't see the defence is a weakness.

Don't usually go for things but here goes
Lillis 6
Brown 3 - shaky, one paced
McNulty 3 - oh dear
Keane 4 - outpaced. Jim's mistake though
Ntlhe 7 did well
Camps 5 generous
Allen 6
Rathbone 7 did well
Henderson 6 quiet
Andrew 6 quiet
Cannon 5 jointly at fault with Brown for first goal

Defence - three poor
Midfield - quiet
Attackers - toothless

Only way is up

Disappointing and it sounds like today has highlighted what we all know- our central defence as it is simply isn't good enough for us to achieve promotion. Given his recent contract extension I think it's obvious that Hilly sees McNulty as an important member of the dressing room, however he cannot be trusted to play 46 games in League 1. I think the time it took Hilly to replace him at left back last season could be pointed to as a factor to why we came up a few points up short of the play offs last season and we need to be careful it doesn't happen again.

Canavan clearly has no future at the club- if he did, Hilly would be playing him ahead of McNulty. I think Hill's trying to play a cute game in attempting to get Canavan off the wage budget. We saw Donnelly used by Hilly right until he went to Tranmere and I think Hilly will include Canavan in the squad until we pull a Tranmere on someone. We just need to make sure lessons are learnt from last season and we're not playing catch up again.

Poor central defence - again.
Late goal conceded - again.
Same mistakes repeated - again.
Are we still in the 2016/17 season ?
