He does not just take set pieces he also score from open play and sets up goal in open play for others. It seems Clement is getting pissed of as well.

Gylfi Sigurdsson: Midfielder's future needs to be decided 'imminently' - Clement

Gylfi Sigurdsson scored nine goals and provided 13 assists for Swansea in the Premier League last season
Gylfi Sigurdsson's future needs to be decided "imminently" says Swansea City manager Paul Clement.
The Swans have rejected a £40m offer from Everton for the Iceland midfielder, who they value at £50m, also had a bid from Leicester City.
Sigurdsson missed Swansea' 2-0 friendly win over Birmingham on Saturday because of the transfer speculation.
"It's not something that we want [or] will be allowing to drag on until the deadline," said Clement.
"The deadline I want it to be is imminently for everyone involved at Swansea and Gylfi included. I'm not going to put an actual day on it, but imminently means in the very near future."
Sigurdsson did not travel with Swansea for their tour of the United States with his omission from the match at St Andrews coming despite the player resuming training with the first team after spending part of the close season with the under-23 squad.
"It was the best decision for everybody involved that he wouldn't take part in games at this point, but as I said recently we want a resolution to this situation soon," added Clement.
Asked if Sigurdsson had said he wanted to leave Swansea, Clement replied: "He hasn't said that.
"Gylfi is a player with Swansea, he has three years left on his contract, he's a very good player, we rate him very highly, we want him to stay.
"But at the same time if another club wants him they have to play what this club feels is the right valuation for the player.
"With either situation, assuming it's done in the right way in the right time it's going to be a win-win for us as a club because either we get the valuation we want and we can reinvest and improve the team or we get to keep a very good player."
Clement confirmed that "all parties" are still talking about the potential transfer, but it is understood Everton have not improved on their initial offer, believed to be £40m.

And you can also remove the remainder of his "loyalty bonus" that is presumably in the last contract and we would have to pay up if he didn't ask to leave.

Incorrect. The other 70-80 teams have looked at him and thought - he isn't worth £50m - which is what the majority on here seem to be saying. I wouldn't think many are looking at him and thinking - bang average midfielder- only you think that.

Perhaps you really do understand football better than Ronald Keenan, I highly bloody doubt it though.

This isn't American football, teams don't sign players just to take set pieces.

You should add a bit of balance to your posts. Everyone knows he isn't Neymar, he isn't average either.

Edit - Ronald Koeman

Fair enough, and cheers youself, Res. I respect your passion in, and your conviction to, your feelings and opinions about what you want this club's identity to be again (free flowing football); even though I think you hopelessly sell Sigurdsson short as a by-product of that desire.

But what am I naive about? What I think WILL happen? If it's that, then I'm not sure what you're presuming, because I haven't the foggiest idea what will happen the rest of this window. And neither does anyone else, including likely the top decision makers in this club. So I'm just keeping my expectations wide open. Yes, Sigurdsson is probably gone, and Llorente possibly headed out the door too. But if I've learned anything from the past, it's that any transfer - and particularly one this dramatic and complex - isn't a sure thing until the player is photographed holding up his new shirt. Things can always fall apart, even at the last minute, for a myriad of reasons. This is why supporters are always nervous as hell until they see that target player holding up their shirt; it was even that way for presumed slam dunks like Mesa and Abraham.

Now, if I'm naive about what SHOULD happen: I don't claim to have the answers there, either. IF we complete the Siggy sale for £45-50 million, we won't know if this was a good move for the club until we see what they do with the money before the end of August, simple as that.

But, I do feel comfortable in saying, unequivocally, that if this club HAD accepted £28.8 million for Gylfi (£32m less Spurs' cut), we'd be in some deep crap right now.

Tummer, what's your first name?

And have you been to Swansea? If you haven't it's a small city with lots of talk. The Board! They're still there, are all local boys and you hear things. Yes there's a rumour mill, every club has that, it's just about knowing which rumour is true and which one is bullshit.

Then it's about knowing the game, and a managers mindset, and players capabilities. Siggy is only average, no matter what some will try to say. There is a reason that 99% of top clubs haven't come in for him and it's not the £50m. That figure only came out fairly recently. But anyway, if top clubs wanted him they'd even pay that.

There's been an increasing number of articles in the press of late about his true limitations. I suspect, like most journalists these days they scour the forums for titbit's of information, and no doubt they've been indulging themselves in my posts. It doesn't take intelligent people long to resonate with the sound reasoning of others.

But what you'll see in the months and perhaps years ahead is that this deal will be the high watermark for how crazy football has gone. Actually it's obscene, but that's a different story. We're about to commit the biggest robbery in the history of the game.

It's time to celebrate..... From Texas to Townhill!!!

There's a lot of truth in that. Anyone with half a memory will recall how poor Sigurdsson was when he got back from the Euros and how long it took him to get going again. He prefers playing through the middle but often neutralises the striker in the way that Ayew also used to and so we have become reliant on his set pieces. In some games he barely gets a kick until we get a corner, which he shouldn't be taking as his delivery is nothing to shout about half the time and he really should be 20 yards out to get on anything the centre half gets a head to. He can be a cracking player at times but selling him won't be the be all and end all and should be seen as continuing the model of sell and rebuild n like we used to do.

Well that's another superb encapsulation. His corner taking isn't good at all. Maybe Vera is the type who can give us a lot more from our open play, which it is fair to say has gone abysmal since monk took charge.

Really looking forward to seeing Mesa, Carroll/Fer and Viera playing together.

F*ckall wrong with Siggy's ability from open play when he had Graham, Moore or Bony in front of him. The flicked passes through for Olsson to score twice last season weren't set pieces either.

He's fine from open play given the opportunity to be so, although I will grant the point that ideally he needs a certain kind of striker to be most effective.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

Agree with most of that too, although if I recall correctly Danny Graham went off the boil when he started tripping over Gylfi - happy to accept that I'm wrong on that though, was it Michu's advanced play that made Graham ineffective? Gylfi and an on form Bony is a great combo.

Both have/had similar effects on our strikers , the latter almost being a decoy for Michu and GS (when he was given licence to play a more fluid role , not like last season).

I'd imagine you are right to put that alongside the 10% to Spurs, and then there may be agents' fee etc. on the incoming and outgoing deals. One wonders, if we get £40m + add-ons for Siggy and bring in Viera for about £30m, whether there would actually be much left over.

Danny Graham going of the boil had f*ck all to do with Siggy.....more to do with Danny Graham himself.

He didn't go off the boil, he actually played very well with Siggy. His goalscoring certainly dipped, but he created a hell of a lot of time and space for Siggy by dragging defenders all over the place. He played a very unselfish role for a centre forward. He didn't gel with Michu though.

Indeed receiving a transfer fee of £40 million does not equate to having anywhere near £40 million to spend on a replacement or replacements.

If we sell Lorente and Siggy and don't replace them the next few months will resemble last season and an almighty panic in January.

I think we did an excellent job replacing Ash. It just took Alfie a little time to settle into tue PL, as well a manager who had a clue what to do at CB. But his value has already increased exponentially in just 1 season.

Ash was more than a CB.. he was a leader and club captain. We went months without a leader on the pitch last season so Alfie was not a replacement like for like although he will develop as the club captain in the future.
