Welshisms... on 22:54 - Jun 15 with 2731 views | aberhugh | Parts of Swansea, Neath and Port Talbot pronounce wasp the same way as hasp or rasp and not 'wosp.' It's tonking down with rain (p*ssing it down) Stop tumbling in those cupboards (rummaging) Come by 'ere and show me those earrings ewe got in your ears wot I gave ewe last year. ( 'ere, ear, year and the ear of earrings are all pronounced the same as year. )

Welshisms... on 16:02 - Jun 15 by Banosswan | I learnt the word Shunk when I moved to Port Talbot |
Now there's a word from my youth. Darran's a "shunk", no question. How about.. "Give that here you are like an 'S' hook" (or it might be a welsh word spelled something like "eswyk" ..I never asked!) - Means; "You are f*cking useless" "Loving f-u-c-k!" - Means; "Oh dear" "Shavings!" - Means; "Shiiit!" "My willy Ivor!" - Means; "My penis!" "You beaut!" - Means; "You w*nker!" "Pass me that over here Will" - Means; "Pass me that over here person whose name I either can't remember or cannot be arsed to put any thought towards remembering"....calling everybody "Will" is especially prevalent in Felindre, Port Talbot...f*ck knows why. "Oh, now, don't get eggy with me...I'll f*cking 'ave ew now" - Means; "Don't lose your temper with me young man...or I will be forced to defend myself robustly" "Iesi Mawr!" - Means; "Jesus Christ!", but literally "Big Jesus". "Cowin' lush" - Means; "F*ckin' lovely" "Is it now..." - Means; "I doubt it / a likely story" "Shut your clanging man-hole!" - Means; "Shut your face!" "That is f*cking mewling" - Means; " I don't like how that tastes" "...she is tamping!" - Means; "She is literally bouncing with rage" [Post edited 16 Jun 2017 1:25]

Does anyone else use bwp? Meaning a big baby? Or whew? Spelling probably wrong. I don't know how to spell it in Welsh. Common in my family.

Not Welsh, but an Aussie mate at a BBQ came out with "I'm fuller than a fat girl's shoes".

"Whew" as a sort of exclamation? Is ringing a bell. My lot didn't use "bwp". They used "babbi" for baby and "bab" or "babs" for short....if somebody was being a big baby they would have said something like; "Come on now babs" Was in a dodgy band in my youth. If I had my time again I would definitely call that band; 'Loving F*ck'

Welshisms... on 08:53 - Jun 16 with 2567 views | Professor | To 'put something by' meaning 'put it away or tidy up' really annoys me. More valleys really. My favourite I have heard is "The beer was terrible. It was like making love in a canoe".
Welshisms... on 09:49 - Jun 16 with 2542 views | dickythorpe | "He's jawing me" - giving me lip "Llawn fel wy" - stuffed eating. "Full as an egg" "Wew" - fool Another one that can be annoying is adding "or something" after a factual sentence. "John's missus has left him for Dai or something..." "Terry's got a dose of clap or something...."
Welshisms... on 11:02 - Jun 16 with 2506 views | Kerouac | Trying to think of stuff my sister, mum or aunties would come out with... "Oh you are hanging!" - Means; "You are disgusting" "Oh that nappy is mewling!" - Means; "That nappy/diaper smells vile!" "Leave him alone he's handsome" - Means "That boy is too damned good looking to be told off for whatever misdemeanor he has got up to this time." "[Insert boy's name here]'s rugby bag is bogging, his dad will have to sort it out" - Means; "My son's disregard for personal hygiene is the responsibility of his father....who is also bogging"

Welshisms... on 11:30 - Jun 16 with 2492 views | Kerouac | Some of the stuff some the males of the family would come out with (not entirely sure these are all specifically Welsh)... "Now, now, lovely boy..." - Means; "You may be spreading your wings and fancying yorself as some sort of alpha male but you are a mere pansy compared to me" "Shape on it!" (Usually while driving) - Means; "Look over there, that girl/woman's tits, hips, arse etc. are perfectly in proportion " "awww, you didn't did you? She's a f*cking munter" - Means; "This young lady you took home last night is not perfectly in proportion and has a face like a bulldog chewing a wasp" "I'm only saying..." - Means; "Keep your hair on boy I am merely pointing out the obvious" [Post edited 18 Jun 2017 1:17]
