Gomis on 20:42 - Feb 21 with 1901 views | jackrabbit | Just before we scored the winner, we were on the rack. Tide after tide of Utd attacks, resulting in corner after corner. I thought we must concede as the pressure on our defence was intense. What you need at times like that is for your forwards - especially the centre-forward -to help relieve the pressure by offering themselves/himself as targets for the defence to find with a relieving clearance, and then for the forward(s) to hold it up and wait for support. That didn't happen. Gomis couldn't win the ball and secure it. As a result the defence were given no relief at all. Gomis did very little second half and should have been subbed. Having said that he did get his head in the way of Shelvey's shot which deflected it over de Gea.

Gomis on 21:10 - Feb 21 with 1855 views | swan_si | i thought Gomis put in a good shift today, his defensive contribution and closing down Utd's play was as good as i've seen from him, he was unlucky with his headed chance being cleared off the line, and the chance that he put over the top just after that was a half chance at best, he was back peddling and the ball was dropping just behind him, i thought his movement off the ball was better, and could of had a few one on one chances if the ball had been played long instead of to his feet, he never looks comfortable with his back to goal, i'd like to see him play a give and go, his marker/markers are touch tight marking him leaving loads of space behind, now that he's been credited with the goal ( as the pundits keep telling us, when a striker is out form and low on confidence, it doesn't matter how they score, a goal will give them confidence again) he may start scoring a few more, anyway, i thought he had a good game. Gomis on 21:30 - Feb 21 with 1812 views | MillJack | I think it's worth pointing out that Gomis wasn't given MOM, it was announced that he had been awarded the second goal instead of Jonjo. Also, anyone saying he was poor today obviously watched a different game to me. He battled from start to finish, on numerous occasions against 2 and sometimes 3 defenders, his movement was good in creating space for others and was incredibly unlucky with the one cleared off the line. Some people are just never going to be willing to give him the credit he deserves. He's not Bony, get over it.

Gomis on 22:30 - Feb 21 with 1704 views | BontJack11 | Although Gomis didn't have a world beating game upfront today, his contributions in defence certainly helped us win 3 points. He cleared the ball from corners numerous times, which is vital against a team like Manchester United, who have a player like Fellaini lurking in the air. Not the main job of a centre forward I know, but it definitely helped us!
Gomis on 22:37 - Feb 21 with 1690 views | Daithejack | I thought he put in a good shift today worked his socks off, he was unlucky not to be on score sheet before the one that went in off him and he defended at the set pieces very well. Lets hope he keeps it going.

I need to agree with that. I admit to not being his greatest fan from day one, and this has nothing to do with the lack of Bony in our squad. Heavy footed, slow to recover from a run, and unable to trap the ball. But I'm finding he's fitting in more each game and as previously mentioned (like Bony) he's an asset in defence. He will get even better when the fans give him his own song.#

Gomis on 18:14 - Feb 21 by Dr_Winston | Played well. Scored one, unlucky not to score two, worked hard and did his best to hold the ball up considering it's not his natural game. Obviously giving him the credit he is due is beyond some people. |
Bingo. He could win the Nobel Peace Prize and he'd still be a c*nt to many on here.

Gomis on 01:35 - Feb 22 with 1516 views | Danielswan | I dont think he was that good, wasnt bad either though. Very nice header in the beggining where he did everything right and tried to work hard. Still finding it hard to keep the ball under pressure though and probably suffers from us not playing throughballs to Bony.

Gomis on 09:04 - Feb 22 with 1445 views | tomdickharry | At least he didn't look like a fish out of water as Bony did on his Man City debut. As we look as though we are safe this season can put up with him before his summer departure. Fore the money we are paying him a poor return.
Gomis on 09:25 - Feb 22 with 1417 views | oldcob | All I'm saying is, hes our striker at the present time and we should encourage him when he plays well. It really does make a difference to a player on the pitch. In any given game you can pick on the things a given player does not do so well. ANY PLAYER. A true supporter gets behind whosoever wears the jersey. He was not responsible for us selling Bony ,The Board were.We all miss Wilf but it benefits no-one but the opposition when we do a nit-picking exercise on his successor.
Gomis on 09:30 - Feb 22 with 1410 views | monmouth | Thought it was amusing that the most effective thing he did was to mess up getting out of the way of Shelvey's shot. Yep, I just don't like the megalomaniac pouty git. Spends as much time on his arse as Dazza Pratley - no wonder Dr WoB likes him..:) - but scores less goals. Hopefully we, and he, can work out how to make him effective. Trying to use him like bony is just square peg stuff. There were a couple of passes that were inches off putting him through yesterday, and a couple that could have been lofted that would have freed him. So far more promising. I think he can do it, but he does need to realise that he hasn't got the time he is used to. He might start banging them in soon, and no, I still won't like him or his pleading mewling chops. In summary, I thought he played better yesterday.

Gomis on 09:33 - Feb 22 with 1403 views | jackforever | The comments on this thread show exactly what has gone wrong with some of our so called fan base. The lad played well. Worked his socks off with little support, closed them down and when a load of defensive headers. Amazed he still getting stick. Guess what he can't hold the ball up like bony, no 5h1t shirlock. Wilf is in a league of his own in that department truly world class at it. I guess the ones still giving him stick are the same who called Scotland rubbish, bony during the first 3 or 4 mths a waste of money and was delighted when ki went to Sunderland. .Thick tvvats

I did not call Scotland rubbish nor think that Bony would not cut it. But I am still to be convinced by a player who made it public that he wanted away and only said that he wanted to stay when HJ said he was going nowhere. On the pitch his finishing is poor with his feet but better with his head. The jury is still out for me.
