See how he goes, then if okay, play him against West Ham from the start, omitting Shelvey, who appears to be going through a bad time. Wouldn't write Shelvey off though, but when a young player is having a bad time and you have cover, take him out of the line of fire until his confidence returns. | | | |

So we want to replace Ki who was probably our best players yesterday as a DM and bring in another DM to replace Shelvey.
Here's a suggestion.. why doesn't Shelvey get fit to last a whole 90 mins .

Agreed. Leon is a no brainer which is why it's so important to have a proper successor lined up and SOON. Ki to play in front of him with Carroll on present form first choice Ki replacement with JJS behind him (unless it's a rough house clogging side we're playing). |  |

Agree with this... have to say as the game went on when Ki had the ball there were very limited options with neither JJS or Siggy making space or runs.
Also didn't help was Taylor pointing and telegraphing where he was going to pass to Montero which rarely came off second half.
Just thought we didn't have the desire or fitness to match Palace yesterday. Even in the last 10 mins we were just passing it sideways and backwards without any real purpose. Also we need to get bodies in the box. First half especially at times it was just Bony and 4 Palace defenders. | | | |

agree, Shelvey has become a bit of a liability, for us, what with his needless bookings/sendings off, although i thought that was an extremely soft pen yesterday, i think Leon will give ki more freedom to push forward as no one protects our back 4 better than Leon. IMO | | | |

Not quite sure we have to be in a massive rush to replace Leon. He is 31/32? Plays most of the game with his mind and has the build to carry on longer than the average player. We do need an understudy I guess, but I can see us getting another 3 or 4 years out of Leon. | | | |

 3-4 years if we went down but IMHO he's got 1-2 years max in the top flight, then he would be used very sparingly , a few starts, impact sub etc etc | |
