Seconded. Tom Carroll very unlucky to be displaced after a very decent run of games.

so after today on 09:30 - Nov 30 with 3569 views | jack247 | The three will be rotated if all fit. There is definitely a place for Shelvey at home in the more winnable games. He may not have played well yesterday, but I would have started him. I would for QPR too.
so after today on 09:49 - Nov 30 with 3515 views | oldcob | I wouldn't start with him. I'd bring him on to play last half hour for first game back. See how he goes, then if okay, play him against West Ham from the start, omitting Shelvey, who appears to be going through a bad time. Wouldn't write Shelvey off though, but when a young player is having a bad time and you have cover, take him out of the line of fire until his confidence returns. | | | | Login to get fewer ads
so after today on 09:53 - Nov 30 with 3505 views | Al_Bundy | So we want to replace Ki who was probably our best players yesterday as a DM and bring in another DM to replace Shelvey. Here's a suggestion.. why doesn't Shelvey get fit to last a whole 90 mins . Siggy had a poor match yesterday didn't help and Routledge's lights went out after 30 mins for some unknown reason. Our whole tempo just faded second half with no real desire to match Palace for work rate.

so after today on 09:58 - Nov 30 with 3489 views | Islander | Leon to start - to get the rhythm flowing and secure a stable platform We need to establish a firmer foundation which doesnt crumble after 20 mins - the JJS/Ki combo isnt best suited to establishing and sustaining a secure base JJS as impact sub in a more progressive role

Agreed. Leon is a no brainer which is why it's so important to have a proper successor lined up and SOON. Ki to play in front of him with Carroll on present form first choice Ki replacement with JJS behind him (unless it's a rough house clogging side we're playing).

so after today on 10:25 - Nov 30 with 3431 views | GreatBritton | Leon has to start. Ki is very good, but he seems to be affected (infected?) by midfield partners alongside him not playing well, as was the case with JJS yesterday. I thought he went into his shell a bit and no one had much idea what to do in the second half - long high balls to Montero is no answer. I was disappointed Garry didn't replace JJS when it was clear he was mentally drifting again
so after today on 10:37 - Nov 30 with 3383 views | Al_Bundy | Agree with this... have to say as the game went on when Ki had the ball there were very limited options with neither JJS or Siggy making space or runs. Also didn't help was Taylor pointing and telegraphing where he was going to pass to Montero which rarely came off second half. Just thought we didn't have the desire or fitness to match Palace yesterday. Even in the last 10 mins we were just passing it sideways and backwards without any real purpose. Also we need to get bodies in the box. First half especially at times it was just Bony and 4 Palace defenders.

agree, Shelvey has become a bit of a liability, for us, what with his needless bookings/sendings off, although i thought that was an extremely soft pen yesterday, i think Leon will give ki more freedom to push forward as no one protects our back 4 better than Leon. IMO

Not quite sure we have to be in a massive rush to replace Leon. He is 31/32? Plays most of the game with his mind and has the build to carry on longer than the average player. We do need an understudy I guess, but I can see us getting another 3 or 4 years out of Leon.

Yep. Alongside Ki, who is letting us down week after week and Fabianski, who's the worst keeper we've had in a long time. Now, where did I put that "tongue in cheek" smiley? People keep advocating Leon to replace anyone who isn't 100%, yet we've done better after 13 matches than any of our previous PL seasons. On the whole we are doing well - why change things?

3-4 years if we went down but IMHO he's got 1-2 years max in the top flight, then he would be used very sparingly , a few starts, impact sub etc etc

I wouldn't mind seeing JJS playing behind Wilf to give Gylfi a break. If he fecks up shove Routledge there

Not a bad shout - Routs has the football intelligence to play in the (creative) hole JJS has the dynamism - but certainly not the intelligence to be our pivotal creative genius

Hello. I don't hate Ki. I just think of all are fit that Leon does his role better than him and I think JJS offers more going forward than him. That's all. No agenda.
