don't be fooled by the scoreline 22:04 - Oct 18 with 2673 views | basilrobbiereborn | That was as bad a mauling as we've had in quite a long time. We started badly, lost the game in the first quarter of an hour and were it not for the goalkeeper we could have been really embarrassed today. All their goals were down to poor defending really, of which more in a minute, but I thought we failed to compete in midfield. They had plenty of time on the ball and moved it wide and forward quickly from the off. I'm convinced that our forward players are good enough to score goals if they get some service, but midfield didn't do that either. Having said all that, the game was lost by lining up an inexperienced kid against a winger who was just too good for him, and setting up in a way that offered him almost no protection. So he was duly hauled off after a quarter of an hour, which will probably be ruinous for his confidence, and we were left to try and do some damage limitation for the rest of the afternoon. Not your best day at the office, Mr Riga.

The Dog Botherers are crap though-worst I've seen this season - but the problem was highlighted by the Radio Wave commentator who explained that Ward had elected to stay there (came on as sub) It's ok blaming Riga but he can only do do much with hands tied behind his back, and blaming another manager is lazy. Investment is needed in a Valerie Belekon type stylee as indeed I seem to recall you chanting at Scunny one time. [Post edited 18 Oct 2014 22:33]

don't be fooled by the scoreline on 22:28 - Oct 18 with 1986 views | PNENIL | Riga explained in the post match interview that the kids performance against Cardiff merited a start today. He changed it very quickly and admitted his mistake with the usual honesty and grace he always displays. I see you don't pass comment on another two weeks gone by where the chairman has failed to be proactive and not lifted a finger to help the manager. Another bad two weeks at the office I'd say but hardly unexpected.
don't be fooled by the scoreline on 23:17 - Oct 18 with 1924 views | Wizaard | As you say, the game was lost after 15 minutes, but from then on, we did see a decent game of football, with both teams going for it. The much criticised McMahon did well up against Scannell who had had a field day up to then. Easy with hindsight, but Dielna had done OK against Cardiff. It's probably to Huddersfield's credit that they recognized a weakness there and ruthlessly exploited it. While we could have conceded a few more in the first half, despite them havrrieding plenty of possession, it was us who had the best chances. The keeper was very lucky to tip one onto the woodwork for starters. Our two goals just before half time certainly had their fans worried. It came down to whoever scored first in the second half would probably go on and win and so it proved. Once again, we didn't help ourselves with two very weak clearances falling straight to the man on the edge who didn't look the gift horse in the mouth. Bit of an emotional day for us, in that we were invited by the match sponsor into a hospitality suite in memory of Tom Shuter, who was a long term Yorkshire based Seasider. He sadly passed away back in March, and the sponsorship was to honour his memory. Thinking of you tonight Tom. RIP.

It's not about Riga though is it, one win in god knows how many. The problems lie away from the manager although I actually wish he would walk. See KO desperately try and get someone and fail miserably. No matter who manages us, the club is on self destruct and there is only one answer, that just isn't going to happen in a hurry either. We, as a club, are in the 5hit.

Riga gets a free pass because he's working with both hands tied behind his back. No arguments with that. In addition we distracted him just before kick off by having a chat when he should have been focusing on the team. Mea Culpa.

I think his team selection was wrong, why play Clarke when he is not match fit and Rentmeister has been excellent. Why drop Zoko after his performance last time? He does have his hands tied, we are an average league one squad at best. He may have okayed the signings but how many are players he really wanted and how many are get some in because we need bodies? The last several months of results don't lie and one solitary win against a team every blue moon is not cause for optimism. The heart has been ripped out of this club and the perpetrator is now standing over the carcass and peeing on it.

I like Perkins but when he's your best player, and the one you're relying on, what does that say about the quality of the rest of the team?

The problem is even if koko suddenly had a brain transplant and opened the wallet we can't do anything until January's and previous form suggests nothing will happen anyway. Even if it did I can seriously see us adrift and certs for relegation by then... | | | | Login to get fewer ads

We're 5 points off safety. The Division is such that a couple or three wins on the bounce sees you move right up while the converse is true with defeats. Look at Huddersfield. Down with us a couple of weeks ago. Three wins and a draw in the last four has seen them climb to relative safety. Not giving up just yet. We need to bounce back on Tuesday.

In the case of Delia, i'll give riga the benefit of the doubt as he was left without much option in the position and his performance v cardiff was enough to suggest he wouldn't be as bad as he was. Obviously taking someone off who isn't injured after 15 mins is not good, but it simply underlines the quality of player we've been able to attract. Where riga was to blame is with the re-introduction of Clarke and the dropping of zoko. Quite why that was done is anyone's guess, but on the face of it, it looked a very poor decision. It was a shocking start with all 3 goals very soft indeed. But not a lot has changed with the team, they simply aren't good enough and most, if not all, are playing at a level too high for them.

I admire your optimism Wiz, but there is nothing in the last 12 months that gives us any cause for any. If we get more than 30 points season I would be surprised. We are not good enough, end of. [Post edited 19 Oct 2014 10:29]

I think Wiz's comment "not giving up yet" coming in the middle of October says it all. The last 2 weeks has shown me that there is still no urgency or will to put things right by the chairman. He should be desperate to bring quality players in that will make a difference right now. Instead another 2 weeks slips by, more games will pass and he does nothing . His words of "helping the manager" mean nothing. He's not interested.

I suspect he's waiting for the fans to turn on riga so he can sack him. He's shown that he won't back him and his answers in the recent bsa forum certainly smacked of a man trying to put the emphasis on the manager.

First of all, Dielna is not a raw kid - he is 24 years old, 25 in January. Agree with SATW on most points. Riga has a team, not a squad, so didn't have much choice to play him - and he did OK v. Cardiff. Just watched the goals again and Peter Clarke was shocking as well. He's always been last ditch - rectifying his own mistakes but is way off the pace now. From Riga's pre-metach interview he seemed to suggest Clarke was the only leader we have, so guess that's why he was in the team. Perkins has stood out every game the season - yesterday he was anonymous. This in itself is extremely concerning as he is not the best but without his persistent worrying of the opposition the midfield was non-existent. Miller looked like he could't be bothered. Zoko didn't do much when he came on. We had a few decent chances second half from crosses by Mendy but messed them up. Riga has no hope with no investment in the team. McMahon was booked again - soon to be suspended? Perkins can't be far off either. Scenario without J Oriol, McMahon, Perkins, Cubero is frightening considering our next few opponents We aren't even bargain basement anymore because to get a bargain you need to speculate with a little bit of cash. We are the scrapyard. I have no doubt KO is waiting for the fans to turn on Riga, [Post edited 19 Oct 2014 12:15]

We are getting players in Wiz, but they aren't good enough, it is the same since May. It's cobbled together on a ridiculous formula. Just because we are signing players and have players training with us doesn't mean the players are any good. We have a league one squad at best. To say a couple of us were surprised at the team selection would be an understatement. It was shocking yesterday. The match, the train, journey, the atmosphere. Thank god the pub and the people I was with were ok. I really fear for us thisseason. 5.11 from North next week. Must be mental.
