Rangel replacement - blog 13:44 - May 2 with 1518 viewsGardiner

I've explored some of the options here in my first article for TheSwanseaWay - http://www.theswanseaway.co.uk/2014/04/rangel-injured-but-should-we-be-looking.h

I'd love to see Taylor work at RB to be honest. As I say in the piece, inverted full backs are all the rage at the moment.

We've got Tiendalli as a natural replacement. And as you say Tayls has also operated there in the past. I don't full back is the priiority when at the end of the season we'll only have 1 recognised striker in the senior squad.

Striker (especially with ACON) and winger main priorities for me too, just that the Rangel injury brought the whole replacement topic into the light.

I may too a similar thing for strikers. Maybe < £5m and see if there's anyone up to the job.

Why not have Taylor on the left and Davies on the Right?
Taylor is a better crosser of the ball and playing Davies on the right will allow him to cut in and take a shot on.

Surely I can't be the only one who thinks that Rangel is still a very good right back.

It seems to me that once one person said that Rangel may need to be replaced soon then everyone else jumps on the bandwagon and agrees.

Perhaps now that he is missing for the last two matches people will have the chance to see how important he is to our team.

Played a lot more matches this season than we'll probably have next season, won't have helped at his age. Regardless, his form dropped around February and he won't last forever. I'd like us to sign the arsenal 2nd choice right back, his name escapes me right now

I think Rangel is still a good right back, don't get me wrong, but obviously at a certain point of his career curve. Would rather get a RB in now that can learn from him.

Not so sure about Ben at RB because I think his right foot is weaker.

Trippier a good shout but I doubt Leicester will sell. I wouldn't mind Byram but according to Leeds fans he's dropped off a bit.

Kyle Naughton

Averages 0.17 defensive errors per 90 (in context - Ben avgs 0.03, Rangel 0) and has an even worse overall defensive profile than Ben (who has been pretty poor this year in terms of actual defending). Watch a lot of Spurs games because friends support them and, well, definitely not for me.
