“We are going to make sure we prepare correctly, we have been in on Sunday and on Monday to make sure we get the work in and be ready. We need to try and play better, it is our first home game back in front of our fans and we need to make sure we play well and win. It is a different competition but that does not change anything. I want us to win the game and I want us to produce a positive performance. We will make changes as it is a three-game week, but we won’t be making changes for the sake of it because we want players to keep playing alongside each other and build those relationships on the pitch.”

⚽️ Gillingham Head Coach, Mark Bonner.
“I think a lot of the boys who haven’t played on Saturday will play. We’ll definitely get minutes into those because otherwise, they are too far away from their last big minutes in pre-season. It is also an opportunity for us to go and test ourselves in an unbelievable stadium against a top, top team so it will be what it will be. It will definitely be a five-sub game for us. We will make sure everyone is in the best health possible but we will have a go at getting through in the cup as well”

Swansea City won the League Cup in 2013 after beating Liverpool in the quarter finals at Anfield and then knocking out Chelsea over two legs in the semi final. The final was a formality with the Swans beating Bradford City who had taken some Premier League scalps on their way to the final. Swansea running out 5-0 winners. The winners of this years trophy don’t move into the Europa League, they play off for a conference league place. The final is scheduled for March 16th 2025 at Wembley Stadium.
