Luke Williams : It was horrible my players were very nervous

It was a shell shocked Luke Williams who faced the cameras minutes after his sides 5-0 loss to Bournemouth in this seasons FA Cup. Beleaguered is one word we would use.

Full text.

It was horrible and a horrible night for us, I tried to set the team up to give problems to the opposition because we have to try and win the game. I got the balance wrong with too many players in advanced positions, in the turnover there’s not enough bodies to stem the flow of the attackers. But that was horrible, and then the second half we had more bodies back but then it’s very very difficult for us to get near their goal, so we tried to like limit the damage.

The players were very, very nervous but I don’t want to talk about individual errors. But yes I agree, tactics aside making mistakes was very disappointing. I needed to help the team to be quicker and and find a way to you know, give them more bodies behind the ball to defend.

We have to go in to training and try and work out how we are going to set up for the next game we did learn some things from this type of opposition I think but Leicester is not going to be so much different. They are an outstanding group as well. We have to come up with a game plan and try and convince the players, like I said I would like to take some responsibility to share with them, I knew this team were going to be really tough. Now I need,to find the way for this team to be competitive.

We would do well to strengthen the squad for sure, every single team would like to do that and we are no different.

Well, that’s as it stands for now. Interestingly Sporting Director Paul Watson was in the stands with ex Saints and Luton manager Nathan Jones. Possibly more on that tomorrow.
