Swans return to normal, Luke Williams response is so, so Saturday, 30th Mar 2024 10:21 by @Cornish67David Swans head coach, Luke Williams blamed the referee and officials for the first goal at Sheffield Wednesday when an incorrect call led to the opening goal. Really he could have cut down his explanations by saying ‘We didn’t turn up, we move on’ When it wasn’t the officials it was the fault of the pitch but Williams seemed happy with an away point that really does now put more emphasis on Monday afternoon’s home game against QPR. There are some tickets left for the fixture with a few seats together available but overall it looks like heading (on paper) for a sell out. Williams wasn’t as much defensive but analytical of his side’s poor showing at Hillsborough, and it was a poor showing. There is no way any side should be standing still with their foot on the ball after seven minutes of a fixture that Williams stated they would fight tooth and nail for. Luke seemed to be grasping at straws a bit but he was thankful for the point. ⚽️ “It was a tough afternoon, in the first half we controlled the game quite well, and we managed to quiet the crowd here and I think we created some anxiety for them.” Well Luke is right there, the crowd were quiet all afternoon, and the home side pretty devoid of ideas until the last twenty minutes. ⚽️ “But we were unable to make any clean actions to score, so we can improve there. Out of possession in the first half the intensity was there, but with the ball there was not quite enough of that” ⚽️ “There is frustration to concede from a set-piece, and then in the second half the game becomes a bit more like basketball because we had to push really hard to get back into the game” We are certain Luke sees sufficient from that performance to put things right, albeit the Swans only arrived back in west Glamorgan late last night, and will have a rest day today bar those requiring treatment. Tomorrow is an analytical day with light training at Fairwood before Monday is with us and the big game at the Swansea.Com. The full report is below.
