Luke Williams : The Swans just need to stop making the same old cheap mistakes Tuesday, 18th Feb 2025 08:00 by Liam Walters & Keith Haynes Despite the wait - when it became apparent that the new Swansea investment team pretty much had enough of Luke Williams, the Swans head coach, the inevitable happened. A brief wait had to be taken when one of the Directors was dealing with a family funeral, it soon turned to a green light yesterday afternoon after a decision was made on Sunday. And Luke Williams was gone. He knew what was coming from the Saturday night after the Stoke City game, we hear he was informed of a decision on Sunday and then departed with two days to move out of the club. That’s a rumour but numerous people are now stating it. This as many will know who read our pages was something we believe should have happened when we first reported Chairman, Andrew Coleman was extremely angry, and rightly so after Williams ridiculous comment regards links to the West Bromwich Albion. People can believe what they like but it was clear mind games were being played as the excuses flowed. It’s all on our news pages from six weeks ago. Yet still people couldn’t see what was going on. The Welsh media now confirm that so all of a sudden it’s correct. Hilarious. We are not going to go through the complete and utter mismanagement with pathetic and spineless tactics, blame and falsehoods over the past thirteen months. It’s over and as we stated on Saturday the club is in chaos. ⚽️ —> Chaos at Swansea We now look forwards but have to look backwards for context. The question on everyone’s mind now is who is next ? Right, please don’t start talking about Garry Monk, Alan Tate or Russell Martin. The latter wouldn’t go within a mile of Andrew Coleman who was Chairman when he left Swansea in 2023. Coleman then conveniently stated he came to Swansea in August not May 2023 when Martin left. Litigation over Russell Martin was ongoing, and this was a clear intention to distance himself from a decision he was very much involved in. How on earth can a Chairman state he wasn’t at a club after he had announced it himself ? Plus he was in negotiations with the club before then to become Chairman, in fact from February 2023. He knew full well what the brief was. and he was the person that rubber stamped it, the Chairman of Swansea City. Russell Martin knew exactly what was going on as well. Steve Kaplan met him in a London hotel before the Swans beat Millwall in the March of that year (Mykola Kukharevych etc) and that was to tell him of the progress. We will leave that there but these little convenient moments raised alarm bells with us. It makes people very uncomfortable. We felt we were being deceived and misdirected away from the actual truth. And at times we still do today. In fact for thousands of Swansea fans this is their life. It never really dawned on us how important until we received an email from an elderly supporter. She talked about the Chairman upsetting her with how he was going about his work, and felt very down and unhappy. That’s very sad. And indicative of how important the club is to many, and not just from Swansea. Well, with all that has transpired since the Chairman has arrived don’t you feel unhappy and poorly treated with what is very obviously a narrative which is in itself is testing you like a begging minion ? We have reported the discontent within the new board since November 2024 when it was rubber stamped that new members were officially registered the club. The pressure was increasing on Coleman, and Saturday was the day he was told by the new board that a consensus was needed on an immediate sacking of Williams. With the complete disaster of the transfer window very much on everyone’s minds you could say he was under pressure. In fact as numerous people now know, his tenure could be under threat as well. After the window Williams started blaming the staff at the club. Well, we’ve heard that before. All of those staff are competent at their jobs but they are not jobs connected to high profile money decisions and securing players. That seemed to be the job of just one man, Andrew Coleman. Even Martin Hodge the head of player recruitment put in his notice. We haven't been able to even keep ahold of any football director or whatever you want to call them for any period of time that would see returns. With or without Coleman the pattern never changes. We are in no way anti Coleman, but we are very anti the way he has messed up all the routine challenges he faces due to a total lack of experience and guidance. With Richard Montague coming in there’s little he can do which we will be visibly noticeable until the summer. But that was one hell of a first day yesterday when Williams was sacked. We have to be honest we genuinely thought he would take off if he heard Williams was to be booted. But clearly not. Maybe we have a man now with a football past, albeit at a lower executive level who has the balls required because he is going to be well busy. That’s our comment this morning as Steve Cooper leads the way with a few bookies and Des Buckingham (sacked Oxford manager) with others. But please don’t be in Coleman’s ear shot and mention the names of Garry Monk, any dream team of unproven ex Swansea players, Rob Page or anyone in League one or two. It will ruin us. There has to be a stop put on this way of recruiting. Go and get the best you can and quit doing it all on the cheap. ![]() ![]() Photograph Open Source Please report offensive, libellous or inappropriate posts by using the links provided.
