Bristol City 0 v 1 Swansea City EFL Championship Sunday, 9th February 2025 Kick-off 12:00 | ![]() |
Monday debrief : This is about Swansea City players and the supporters. Nobody else Monday, 10th Feb 2025 08:00 by Swansea Independent If anybody isn’t listening just yet then the past five weeks may have passed you by. Swansea City head coach, Luke Williams has survived the boot from his role when the majority wanted him gone, and despite that he remains in situ. There are reasons why aside the financial cost. Some will tell you that is a clear link to Richard Montague at Notts County (the rumoured next director of football at the Swans) If Luke remains at Swansea then Richard Montague will be more inclined to join the Swans. Luke was with him for eighteen months as Magpies manager, and they developed a lasting friendship as a result. You wouldn’t think that Swans Chairman, Andrew Coleman would be sacking Luke, that wouldn’t help at all with Montague on the horizon. We still think that Gareth Jennings, the ex Grimsby Town director of football remains an option despite the indications a week ago that he wasn’t in the running. Revisit our feature here ⚽️ Richard Montague & Luke Williams The was shortly after we were told it’s hardly likely Luke Williams would be sacked, now of course maybe Mr Montague is the reason why ? It is all becoming clear ⚽️ Luke safe But of course this isn’t about conjecture or well sourced news, this is about that massive feeling of relief when the Swans delivered their first win of the year at Bristol City yesterday. Josh Tymon (below) getting the winner. Our full match report with all the trimmings, exclusive pictures, teams, ratings and great stats is below. Relive the day here ⚽️ Swans win at last ! ![]() Luke Williams talked for longer than usual in his post match interview. And then if you missed matters you can watch the highlights here from SkyTV. ![]() It’s a step forward for sure, Lewis O’Brien had a great debut alongside Franco he displayed courage and a desire to go forwards, not sideways or backwards as an example. This result wasn’t about saving Luke Williams job, it was about Swansea City players and Swansea City supporters. Had the Swans lost yesterday Luke would still be in a job, as he would be if the side lost again on Wednesday against Sheffield Wednesday. However, that’s not the case this morning, it’s the players who need to rekindle their bond with the supporters. It’s they who now need to pursue that challenge, not Luke Williams hoping his squad have belief in him making it about himself again. That was a strange comment, and very much should tell everyone exactly what has been going on over the past few months. The behind the scenes drama at a club which is meant to be a professional set up continues. ![]() Photographs Open Source or already designated by Reuters Please report offensive, libellous or inappropriate posts by using the links provided.
