Man City : Jacob Wright link confirmed : Swansea City Transfer News
Saturday, 1st Feb 2025 07:59 by Keith Haynes

Manchester City U21 player, Jacob Wright came from nowhere last night as the transfer deadline is upon us come Monday 11pm UK time. When we were alerted to some very good open sources it’s clear the name cannot just be plucked out of the air.

Speaking to those we know they too have confirmed that Jacob Wright was on a long list of players this January. However, one states that Chairman, Andrew Coleman won’t be happy at all as it’s one of those deals that is crucial time wise to complete. He wanted to try and get this transfer done without any media attention. Well, that doesn’t happen all the time these days as Coleman has had a whirlwind month and genuinely must be exhausted. Controlling all the talks for players to leave and come in is exhausting on its own. Then having the Luke Williams bother and the complete loss of form to worry about he must be running on memory.

Jacob Wright is a nineteen year old right back / defensive midfielder who can play at centre back. He has appeared for the Manchester City first team, but not in the Premier League. He has played some minutes in the Champions League in one game and in the FA Cup. He also appeared for Man City against Spurs in October in the League Cup. For the last year Wright has been in and around the first team. However, these games in the main are all last season and it seems that Manchester City can’t offer him a future at the club so he is being moved on. Coleman is heading the talks with the Manchester City academy and talk of four million pounds could well be accurate. However, these will include add ons, staggered payments with a limited payment up front. To assist with profit and sustainability spreading payments over an amount of time assists the balance sheet massively.

So there is no way the Swans are spending four million pounds up front.

Born in Manchester, Wright has only known Manchester City and has been at the club for the last eleven years, that’s around eight years of age. After making his first senior appearance a year ago Phil Foden said, "I'm delighted for him. It's a dream for me also to play with academy players. He's worked so hard in training to get his rewards and today he got on the pitch. Hopefully I'm an example to the young ones to show it's possible even in a team like this that you can get your chances if you work hard in training. I'm delighted for all the young ones that are playing at the moment and long may that continue."

This deal is by nowhere near done but we are told it is easing closer. Despite Coleman reported as ‘preparing a package’ to purchase the player, time is of the essence, other clubs are most certainly interested and ‘preparing a package’ is just that. We are certain more will come from this story over the next forty eight hours.
