Swansea City : Luke Williams linked to West Brom job
Sunday, 29th Dec 2024 12:23 by Keith Haynes & Sources

Luke Williams along with a few other names has been linked into talks with West Bromwich Albion next week according to certain sources.

As ever we have spoken to a few people in the know in these matters and the general conclusion is, he has had no direct contact with anyone from the Hawthorns - and any plans to speak with Shilen Patel the Baggies Chairman and co-founder of the Bilkul football group. Away from there one source tells us that Williams would be stupid to walk from Swansea now and risk his profile at a club that has very little time for losing streaks and managers who can’t deliver quickly. The loss of Carlos Corberan but gaining three million pounds in the process has ensured the Baggies can reach higher and offer a more lucrative salary to their new manager.

As per Carlos Corberan, Luke Williams does have a release clause in his contract.

Having been at the club for nearly a year the current Swans head coach is now just beginning to see some of his work come to fruition. With his self assembled team and Alan Sheehan, Luke has worked solidly with new players, some to a greater degree of success than others. The other candidate is Steven Schumacher who is without a club and would come in a lot cheaper for the Baggies. Unless Luke has been involved in indirect discussions with his representatives, and nobody will ever find out about those, this as it stands is a non story. Of course things change but we don’t believe it is in Luke’s character to become embroiled in that type of talk without the knowledge of Swans Chairman, Andrew Coleman.

Luke may be aware of interest, in fact his representatives wouldn’t be doing their job if he wasn’t at least alerted to this but an interview or talks next week ? That’s not on the agenda.

That’s the latest, no contact has been made as yet, and no arrangements for interviews next week have been arranged with Luke Williams. As it stands it is business as usual at the Swans.

However, some Swans fans have been saying the new investment group are interested in an appointment at a far higher level than Luke Williams, could this play into their hands ?
