The weather could well be a deciding factor in tomorrow’s third Nations League game in Reykjavik tomorrow evening. The national team are unbeaten after two games, a home draw against Türkiye and an impressive away win in Montenegro.

With head coach, Craig Bellamy adding more experience in the form of Joe Allen and retaining Ben Cabango, Ollie Cooper and Liam Cullen in his side the Swans have the best one club representation in the squad. However, that literally isn’t the whole story. Swansea City academy graduates, Connor Roberts, Joe Rodon, Ben Davies and Josh Sheehan were all included in this latest squad. There’s also Rhys Norrington-Davies, who left the Swans youth structure for Sheffield United in 2017. That’s nine players, many of whom who will feature over the coming long weekend in either, Iceland, at home against Montenegro on Monday, or indeed in both fixtures.

That’s some accomplishment for the Swans. Of course the mainstream media as such haven’t mentioned it, and we know certain other clubs would be all over it with their media contacts. But that’s a wonderful contribution to this years Nations League campaign.

Fortuna Düsseldorf right back, twenty three year old Valgeir Lunddal Friðriksson believes the home side hold the key to winning this game. “We see in our national team football that we have to be focused for ninety minutes plus. This is something we must learn from, and do more of. You can't make mistakes against such strong opponents. Of course it will be a very difficult game. But as we have said over the years - we talk about the fact that no one wants to come here in two degrees and wind. So we need to take advantage of that and try to beat them a bit”

Reykjavik weather for tomorrow night is around freezing with a lower feel, but any fears of a blustery wind seem to be unfounded.

The only uncapped player in the squad is Owen Beck, currently with Blackburn Rovers on loan from Liverpool. He is Ian Rush’s nephew, so Wales do have a lot of experience, and under Craig Bellamy it is growing with a new feel good factor this Nations League campaign. Wales will fancy getting a result tomorrow evening after their promising start under Bellamy.

Iceland captain, Johann Berg Gudmundsson has commented this afternoon on Wales and especially Craig Bellamy. “He was a fantastic coach at Burnley, a fantastic human being, and we had a lot of good times together,” Gudmundsson left Burnley in August to join Al-Orobah in the Saudi Pro League. “I know exactly the way he wants to play and we have had discussions about it. So we have to be wary at what comes to us. But he’s only two games in and the way he wants to play perfect football is not there”

Fiorentina forward Albert Gudmundsson, had his own problems with a dark cloud over his future until this afternoon when he was cleared of rape allegations in a Reykjavik court. Before the trial he stated. "I trust in justice. I know I am innocent and I have good arguments to prove it.” He is now clear to play for Iceland but first manager, Age Hareide has to speak with his club. A return against Wales tomorrow is unlikely in our opinion, but he hasn’t totally ruled out their next fixture on Monday against Türkiye.
