Swansea City : Two home games over the next forty eight days : Plus Luke Williams
Saturday, 5th Oct 2024 11:38 by Keith Haynes

The Swans are at home before the international break today. They take on Stoke City at the Swansea.Com (3pm) There is the opportunity for pay on the day for Swans fans. The fixtures do present a lot of time off with two international breaks to come, with the Swans playing two home games after today in the next forty eight days.

Luke Williams press conference was allowed on to our screens via YouTube thanks to Swans TV. From that discussion we hear that Luke is happy with the players he has at this moment in time, he didn’t rule out a free agent but it’s clear the inquiries made were going to make a big hit on the Swans finances (Sources) And the contract situations for first team players, Harry Darling, Ben Cabango and Liam Cullen had not progressed. That’s frustrating for Swans fans. Again we understand that is down to finances, not only currently, that’s evident, but every week and month that the Swans save on extra salaries is money in the bank.

When we look at the approximate salaries of Jerry Yates and Mykola Kukharevych, between them on around eighteen thousand pounds a week. That’s seventy two thousand pounds a month. Over their loan times away from the Swans that’s nearly a million pounds saved over the season. Both players are having their salaries paid whilst they are away.

More money saved.

The other loan players out at other clubs do not makes a huge dent, but we are still talking about a weekly saving of around eight thousand pounds or so, and overall per month thirty two thousand pounds, and over a season around three hundred and fifty thousand pounds.

More money saved.

Players released this summer has seen around thirteen leave the club, yes, Eom, Franco, Bianchini, Vipotnik, Vigouroux and the loan of Peart-Harris from Brentford is an expense, as is Nelson Abbey from Olympiacos. All are decent signings. However come June 30th 2025, Harry Darling, Liam Cullen, Ben Cabango, Joe Allen, Kyle Naughton can all leave the club. And you can bet your bottom dollar the three main players in that list have agents already working to get them alternative deals. And then there is a number of highly regarded prospects in the U21 side still looking for some security as their contracts run out in June as well.

At this moment in time more money saved.

The training facilities and away travel, hotels, food, training time does cost a lot of money, but all clubs have that issue this season. The training facilities at Fairwood and Landore also cost a pretty penny.

Today’s game is an important fixture for one reason. A win gives the Swans time to settle down, their next fixture after today is away at Blackburn Rovers in two weeks, followed by Sheffield Wednesday away in midweek. The next time Swans fans will see their side in the flesh at home will be on Saturday October 26th against Millwall. That’s three weeks away. In fact right up until November 24th v Leeds United, the only other opportunity to watch the Swans at home is against Watford in a midweek fixture on November 5th. After today that’s two home fixtures, one midweek, and one Saturday game over the next forty eight days.

See Luke Williams press interview here, it is edited -

Luke has stated he is happy with what he has got, but we expect a free agent to be training with the club from next Wednesday.

There’s plenty of reasons for a big effort to get along and see the Swans today, especially after we have reviewed the lack of home fixtures until the end of November. And those away games are toughies for sure.

One big shout for the boys today !
