Swansea City : Luke faces up, new signing news & PNE highlights
Sunday, 18th Aug 2024 07:01 by Keith Haynes

Luke Williams displayed a really decent trait in his overall make up last evening when assessing the Swans performance in the 3-0 win over Preston North End. Undeniably honest he stated he and the squad had learned a lot from the Gillingham League Cup performance.

Personally I admire any person who is noble enough to stand face to face to the cameras (and anywhere else) and call out their own mistakes or display their learning from a given situation. And that is exactly what we saw from a still sterner faced head coach yesterday, The credit is most certainly down to him and his coaching staff, and indeed to Matt Grimes leading a positive display in front of the clubs supporters. There has been slight criticism that the final minutes were wasted reverting back to possession when another goal or two would see the Swans elevated into the top six. Maybe that’s the next learning curve ? Go and kill off the opposition and then kill them off again.

We shall see.

The edited highlights of Williams post match interview is below.

Watch the game highlights below as well.

This season we are going to highlight our more creative fans on this website, and we start this morning with ‘Swans Away Days’ Rhys runs that channel has done a decent job over a few seasons now, well you make your own mind up.

A devoted Swans fan, we hope you give him some space for a few minutes a week to listen to what he says. There will be others, but we have limited time as the season progresses so please drop us a shout if you want your vlog on The Indy. Nice one Rhys.

Ruben Providence is no longer training with the Swans, he left late on Tuesday which the head coach has now confirmed. "He's not been in with us, but there is still a possibility something could happen because I don't think he's put pen to paper anywhere else. I'll catch up with the recruitment people, the chairman and the sporting director tomorrow at some point." That’s disappointing because a transfer to Swansea was something Luke was keen on. We understand that overall the Swans couldn’t come to terms with his clubs wishes to complete the transfer, and there is another option out there which won’t create as many paperwork issues. It’s a shame as it was evident Luke wanted him in his squad.

And let’s not forget the financial barriers that the club have faced when recruiting players this season. We covered that yesterday.

⚽️ —> The genuine reality at Swansea

Away from the edited highlights of Luke’s post match interview he also talked about a new player. “I think we'll speak in the week. I really feel like now I want to talk about the guys on the pitch. I don't want to take away too much from them. We are going to talk about signings, of course. I haven't spoken to anybody about that today. I was at the training ground today with Joe Allen this morning and Josh Ginnelly, and the coaching staff, and we worked with those guys this morning. Then we came here to concentrate on this game. I think the boys played brilliantly. But when we catch up in the week then hopefully I'll have some interesting news about a new signing."

The head coach and his commitment cannot be argued with, and hopefully today a few fingers have been pulled out a little further with regards to the three or four ‘quality’ player the Swans desperately need. There needs to be more haste on behalf of the club including Sporting Director Paul Watson and Chairman, Andrew Coleman. They cannot let slip yet another chance to have a tilt at a return to the Premier League go begging. It’s happened too often.

Now is the time for the big boys to put on their big trousers and leave the talk behind.

The Swans now have a clear run to next Sunday and the derby game against Cardiff City at the Swansea.Com Stadium. (3pm) Time to reflect, learn some more and most certainly to be more ruthless when the opposition are almost on their knees.
