Boro v Swans : Free hot drinks as the fans leave Swansea at 4am. Team latest.
Saturday, 10th Aug 2024 06:30 by Liam Walters & David Cornish

Swansea City fans set off from the Swansea.com on coaches taking local supporters to Middlesbrough this morning, whilst others from many parts of the country make their way to the Riverside for what is an early but ‘get used to it kick off’.

Swans fans had free tea and coffee as they assembled at the Swansea, com from around 3.30am this morning, the faithful not letting a lost nights sleep bother them. After all they can catch up on the way north. A sprinkling of Jacks were in Middlesbrough last night and many more will travel from their home towns across the country. The expectation of a larger than normal support for this fixture boosted by new season confidence.

Swans fans could well see all four of the clubs new signings today. Larry Vigouroux the most likeliest, but of course there’s Eom, Franco and Zan to also look forward to. All of which we believe will see game time today. They surely will be needed as the four in haven’t covered the thirteen out, but we understand now the club are a few days away to another announcement, and we think that is Ruben Providence. Obviously fingers crossed he looks handy, but even now anything can happen in last minute negotiations.

And we can also expect some edgy times for those players linked for a move away over the next twenty one days.

It’s quite an easy pick for head coach, Luke Williams for this game. The squad does look thin and will not as it stands be able to sustain a full Championship season on the current numbers for sure. Luke in a well thought out pre match interview stated. “I hope we have improved from where we were last season, I know that might not be the most exciting answer you have ever heard but I really hope we have improved and people can see that. That is what I would like to hear the supporters say, that they recognise the group is moving forward in a positive direction and that they feel optimistic and excited about the team. If we have that, we will know we are on the right track. We have young guys and it would be great to see some real optimism that this group can grow together and become a really good Championship team”

Unfortunately there are players out who could well have featured today in the squad. Andy Fisher, Aimar Govea, Joe Allen, Josh Ginnelly and Sam Parker are all out with injuries. Ronald will have a late fitness test to see how his injury has recovered from the long journey north, albeit over two days, so fingers crossed there. He is a valuable member of the starting eleven in any Swans line up.

We see Vigouroux making his league debut with four in front of him of Tymon, Darling, Cabango and Key. Matt Grimes will have Franco and Fulton around him with the two out wide of Eom and Ronald and one from Zan Vipotnik and Liam Cullen as the lone striker. It pretty much picks itself on the low numbers available.

Boro fans are very confident to the extent they see this as a fairly easy win, we covered that on Thursday. You can read the report on that below.
