Eom Ji-Sung deal hits another snag this morning UPDATE !
Wednesday, 3rd Jul 2024 08:46 by Swansea Independent

It is being reported in South Korea that certain timeframes for the transfer of Eom Ji-Sung to Swansea have not been met by his club, Gwangju FC.

Allegedly by Wednesday morning, Asia time the deal had to be finalised by Gwangju FC and it seems they have failed to do so. (MARY YANG JoonAng Daily) The Swans warned the club they had drawn out this situation beyond agreed timeframes and if not signed and sealed by this morning the deal could be off. Gwangju FC have quite bad financial issues so itā€™s baffling as to why this has happened.

This deadline has clearly been set by Swansea City and the failures around it again are not the clubs fault. The Korean club are also facing a transfer embargo, could this be the reason for refusing to let Eom go ?

This report has surfaced in Korea JoinAng Daily, and they reference that this is the second time a move for Eom out of the country to better things has fallen through. A deal to go to the MLS hit similar snags. If Gwangju FC want to be taken seriously this morning they have literally hours to get this deal sorted or Swansea will move on.

Coupled with Gautier Ott falling through last week there seems to be a jinx on this transfer window.

More later.

UPDATE Joel Kim

Someone we have been talking to for quite a while, a respected journalist, has updated the information to this report.

Finally! About a few hours ago, after what has been a tense few days Sports Chosun has received definitive confirmation that Gwangju FC have indeed finally decided to let him go for 1.2 million euros and presumably other agreed upon conditions. Itā€™s done. This time for real, Iā€™m happy to say. Medicals and media duties await. Official club announcements are expected soon. Congrats #Swans
