Swansea City : Top striker target in the Swans sights, the full lowdown Saturday, 11th May 2024 17:51 by David Cornish & Keith Haynes There’s a lot more to Notts County’s prolific goalscorer than meets the eye. Not least his excellent injury record and the fact at twenty seven he is now in his prime as a professional footballer. That player is Macaulay Langstaff. His record over the past two seasons is incredible albeit in the National League and then League Two. This season he has featured in every County game, and the season before missed just one on Boxing Day. In total that’s ninety six games over two seasons with a seventy goal return, and no reported injuries. He also weighed in with ten assists. His discipline is superb and as we have said his injury record outstanding. That’s four yellows all season, and two the season before. Langstaff has never been sent off in his career which really got him noticed at Gateshead before signing for Notts County. There he played sixty one games with a thirty three goal return. He has put all that together with displays that at every level he has played at he scores goals. ⚽️ What do we know ? Macaulay Langstaff is keen to kick on away from Notts County this summer, you can be certain he would want to make the move to the Championship, and with the Swans. It’s another big step up for him, and a league he will be excited to play in. That’s the Swans gamble, and yes the goals are all the same size no matter what level you play at, however Langstaff will find himself marked by far more experienced defenders. Some of those players will have experienced the Premier League last season, and as we have seen there’s some excellent defensive strategy across the Championship. That’s the consideration the Swans have to manage. His salary shouldn’t provide a headache, he is currently on around £3,100 a week with bonuses included. You would expect that to at least double at Swansea City. Langstaff’s temperament is clearly excellent on the pitch and his internal disciplinary record seems fine, that’s displayed in his constant selection. Would we say he is the Swans top target this summer ? The answer has to be yes, the club needs a recognised goalscorer otherwise next season will be as poor up front as the last. ![]() ![]() Photographs licensed from Reuters and Open Source Please report offensive, libellous or inappropriate posts by using the links provided.
