Luke Williams reported some ‘happy’ news as the Swans prepare for the visit of Blackburn Rovers tomorrow afternoon at the Swansea.Com (KO 3pm)

Josh Key won’t play this weekend as the head coach explained it was too son. Harrison Ashby is ‘potentially’ available after around seven days training. Bashir Humphreys is now also available brining more strength in depth to the defensive line. Azeem Abdulai who was having an impressive start to the season is also ready to stake a claim in the squad tomorrow. The big news is Jamal Lowe is available and fit, so the persistence of trying to make do up front will hopefully stop. It would be nice to see Lowe and Mykola playing but that’s possibly more fantasy than hope.

Commenting on the work done to get the players back fit Luke said, “It’s an incredible effort from the medical team, and of course the players for applying themselves to rehab.Thats the winning combination. On Lowe (below) he said, “He’s a player, I like him a lot, he’s a guy who really wants to do well for the club, that’s for sure. I’m really happy he’s back” On the progress the head coach is seeing in his side he said, “A good result gives us the opportunity to talk about some of the steps forward we are making. But we miss good chances”

On the Swans precarious position in the Championship (they aren’t in that position as far as we are concerned) Luke responded, “If we try and set this short term goal (setting points to stay in the league) it can be really damaging. Our longer term goal is to continue our progress and become a better team. I don’t really watch the table, you wrap yourself up in knots if you do”

The surprise news is the back tracking on keeper Carl Rushworth (above) on loan from Brighton. Now, numerous journalists are more than informed on the situation, and there have been talks between the Swans and Brighton. As Luke Williams stated the two clubs talk often. Sporting Director Paul Watson has been in talks so when Williams announced a second season for Rushworth it was a bit strange and premature. For us that was clearly a lack of managerial experience. He should now know that this isn’t a county in the midlands with a few football teams. A whole country is behind a few clubs. Best say nothing ? Especially when he states he believes that Andy Fisher is an adequate replacement. That just isn’t the case.

A learning curve there for Luke, especially when a struggling team in the Championship still commands ‘relatively’ healthy home attendances and has some of the best away attendances by travelling distance. We hope that lack of experience doesn’t crop up for the derby game which is getting ever closer. We’ve had enough of that from the last manager.
