Dion Charles : Rumoured Swans target, too little too late ?

The Swans have most certainly done some research on Bolton Wanderers forward Dion Charles. But before anyone gets ahead of themselves there is no information on the club making any progress on this player.

Charles has never played in the Championship, although it’s a possibility if Bolton Wanderers remain in second place in League One this season. People who follow us closely will know when it comes to certain clubs we do have some access and assistance with certain matters. Agents at this time of year are very happy to assist with inquiries, especially if they have an ongoing relationship with you. Although introductions are always better. A website can easily be the vehicle for a player to become ‘of interest’ if things are stalling or more exposure is needed.

Charles is a full international for Northern Ireland, however it was only last year he started to score goals. At twenty eight there really does have to be some caution with the player. Some would say he is beyond his prime, others that this is the right time to strike and get him scoring at a higher level. What we do know and it’s been confirmed by a source ( although untested by this website ) yesterday evening that the Swans watched Charles in Friday nights win at Fleetwood. And it isn’t the first time. In fact a few ‘scouts’ were at that game watching Charles. They would have witnessed the player putting his side ahead in the second half and assisting an away victory at Highbury.

Here are his stats. Charles has a scoring rate of one in three. A good return, and he is improving. He has 118 goals in 356 matches in his career with around eighty of those matches in the National League North or National League. The other matter is that Dion Charles doesn’t fit the player trading model at Swansea. His age is an issue first of all. He has two and a half years left to run on his current Bolton contract having extended last year. It concludes in 2026. His market value has increased somewhat since joining from Accrington in 2022 for around £350,000.

The question is more about the Swans finances and ability to thrash out a deal which WE think would be around £750,000. It doesn’t sound likely, does it ? Especially with Bolton wanting a whole lot more.
