Alan Sheehan confirmed his belief that players will be leaving and coming in at Swansea City over the next four weeks. After a satisfactory home win against play of contenders West Bromwich Albion, Sheehan turned to the coming month.

The Swans manager search seems to be stalling, but in the words of Chairman Andrew Coleman the club have been told they are doing the right thing in their search for a replacement for Michael Duff. Having arranged instalment payments with both Duff and his assistant Martin Paterson the search is now in its twenty ninth day. With the two coaches off the payroll and Sheehan on a slightly elevated salary as interim boss the club are also saving on two salaries moving in to 2024.

Sheehan confirmed his belief in changes this month. "I think there will players going out the door in January and there'll be players coming in," he said. "To be a successful team you have to be got to be stronger on February 1 than you are on January 31. That's a fact. Every successful club I've been involved in has always worked that way. We're keen to do that and understand where we need to strengthen. I think everybody sees where we need to strengthen, but it's not a bad place to be in when the lads have given absolutely everything. They've been excellent and just keep stepping up. They've been really good and deserve every bit of praise. Swansea is a remarkable football club. It's renowned for its style of football and that's what we want to get back to. It's a process, but I think players will end up coming in all going well."

That said news is yet to circulate on targets which is more about journalists not firming up news due to the time of year, and agents less than active until the week starts tomorrow we can only reference some genuine links. First off Marc Leonard has come up again, he has been linked to the Swans on several occasions in recent windows and again we reported Swans interest on him in November.

A potentially more exciting signing could be a loan player, but it’s early days. Swans Indy writer Trystan Bending picked up on Fabrizio Romano’s link of Romain Mundle, described as an exciting attacking midfielder. He can play wide right and left as well. The twenty year old joined Standard Liége in Belgium last summer from Tottenham Hotspur, he has found it difficult this season at the Maurice Dufrasne Stadium. He featured in the first four games of the season then found himself on the bench. After sustaining an ankle injury in training he was out for four games. Unfortunately after that he failed to make the squad bar one substitute appearance in seven weeks. It doesn’t sound brilliant we know, but he is young and has shown flashes of his pace and skill whilst in Belgium. Although in the first team squad Mundle has made several appearances for the reserves in the challenger league.

Mundle is 5’ 7” and will come with low salary demands, Antonio Conte was a huge admirer of him but when Conte left Spurs the youngster’s opportunities to train with the first team were halted. In July Mundle chose to leave Spurs and rejected a new contract. He signed for Liège on a four year contract. That’s where the Swans will be facing some form of loan fee or even transfer fee if the interest goes further.

clarion added 16:35 - Jan 2 The WBA match showed that Cullen should operate as an old style inside forward not as a winger Darling had his best game for Swansea as the attacking midfielder/defender going forward constantly and provided several opportunities for the forwards Unfortunately,Lowe had a terrible game for the second home game on the trot, he wasted three opportunities which should have resulted in goals All in all a very good effort ,but work is need up front try using Bolasie first and then bringing on another forward when he tires and hopefully by then the damage will be done . Nit picking really as all the players worked hard for each other again ,with a biaised referee similar to the last game ignoring fouls by the opposition and waving yellow cards to many Swansea players.The WBA forward who used simulation to get a penalty should have resulted in a yellow card for his actions but was ignored by the biaised referee Why do we always get poor linesmen and referees???
