Swans injury latest plus Liam Walsh Thursday, 9th Nov 2023 06:53 by Liam Walters Swans head coach Michael Duff will look towards his defence come Saturday afternoon to provide an accomplished rearguard action against high flying Ipswich Town. They themselves are looking to get back on winning terms after two away draws. Josh Key is most certainly out, and is the biggest loss to the recently regenerated Swans. Ben Cabango will be considered alongside Harry Darling or Duff could again hand the reins to Bashir Humphreys at centre back. Since returning from injury Humphreys has made the centre back slot his own and Cabango has been reduced to substitute appearances against Sunderland last Saturday and for the final minutes of the 1-0 win at Blackburn Rovers. It’s as you were for the other long term inured, Joe Allen, Nathan Wood, Mykola Kukharevych and Azeem Abdulai, none will be available for this game. Duff has gone with a settled side in recent times, and it is suspected he may well do that again, although he does have options in midfield with Liam Walsh (below) being described as ‘outstanding’ in training this week. If he has come through yesterday afternoons fitness tests he will be an option as is Jay Fulton. The playmaker role could suit him with Charlie Patino suspended for this game. Liam Cullen, called up to the Wales squad with Ben Cabango by Rob Page for crucial qualifiers next week is fit as is Jamal Lowe. England U21 announce their squads for next weeks internationals with Bashir Humphreys, Charlie Patino and Carl Rushworth all in contention. That squad is announced tomorrow afternoon. We have featured Ipswich this week and their latest news will be reported tomorrow, however our ‘Burning History’ series is below. That takes us back almost forty two years to the day when the Swans were flying high in the top flight. Ipswich were UEFA Cup holders and had a start studded side. This feature has been so well received provoking memories and emails from Swans fans who still remember that game today. ⚽️ Curt & co reach for the start We also featured Kieran McKenna and his rise to virtually knocking on the door of the Premier League. He Swans report better than expected ticket sales due to the long journey to Suffolk, and those travelling Jacks will be featured on Saturday.
