Sunderland join the race for Swansea City player
Thursday, 8th Jun 2023 10:13 by Liam Walters (19)

Morgan Whittaker finds himself a wanted man this morning and Sunderland are added to the list of clubs who would like to obtain his services by all accounts. Glasgow Rangers seem to be out in front with Plymouth Argyle ‘interested’ and now we read it is Sunderland.

Sunderland Nation report the Black Cats have ‘registered’ an interest in the player. What that actually means is anyone’s guess. We spoke to a source earlier today and their belief is no offers for any players have been made to Swansea City whatsoever this summer. The club are solely managing Russell Martin’s exit, and on that still no compromise had been made by end of play yesterday. There is still of course time.

What is becoming evident is both Joel Piroe and Morgan Whittaker want moves away from the club leaving the Swans with Liam Cullen ( below ) alone in a position to to be the clubs main target man. That will concern Swansea followers but it is still early days for player recruitment during a month clubs are reluctant to do a lot of business.

Kyle Naughton has signed a one year extension at Swansea until the end of next season which will delight him. He is extremely settled in the area and although his deal is less than the alleged ten thousand pounds a week he was on last season it still eats away at the club budget. Kyle is indeed a model professional and his fitness regime and professionalism is seen as a huge influence on younger players.

Once Russell Martin has departed officially we are certain that things will pick up at the Swansea.Com Stadium.
