Swansea City make the long journey to Norwich today to face a side who have slipped up a lot recently. Again, Norwich are a side who desperately need the points to maintain a play off push. If the Swans do take the points they will draw level with the Canaries with two games too go. It’s not a great hunting ground for Swansea City though.

Here’s hoping the overnight stay before the game refreshes those Swans players with a few injuries to assess. Russell Martin will make some changes. “This is a three-game week so we have got to be conscious of that, and there may be one or two who have to miss out or are rested with other guys coming into the team. We will assess that again when we train on Friday, but whatever team we put out at the minute, we are in a really good place. Anyone who has come into the team has performed and we have really been excellent. Whether you start or on the bench you have a role to play, and that has really been highlighted these last few weeks. Everyone has contributed hugely.”

Swansea City have displayed some great results of late, and it’s an unbeaten run of five wins in six. Something has to give and despite one or two persistent and repetitive negatives about this season, and indeed this latest run of results it’s a great place to be regardless of the noise from a few supporters. It’s a bit like travelling to a destination with the children in the back seat asking ‘Are we there yet’ when you know it’s going to take a lot longer than you originally hoped. But still the noise and repetition persists.

But you just know you will get there.

The championship form table going in to this weekend is very pleasing indeed.

Alex Matos the young Norwich City attacker / midfielder has been snapped up by Chelsea this week when his contract ends in the summer. He will join the Blues on July 1st. To avoid a compensation scrap Norwich City have accepted a ‘substantial’ sum. That won’t impact David Wagner’s selections tomorrow though. The Canaries have had a rough time of it of late, however their fixtures haven’t been kind to them either as we can see below. Wagner has been in charge for eighteen games since January winning seven, drawing five and losing six times. Since their 3-2 win at Millwall in March the Canary’s have won just one game in eight. The last time these two sides met was the first game after the World Cup break. That was back in December and Pukki scored for Norwich after a minute and that’s the way the scoreline stayed until the end of the game.

Swansea City have at last found their feet much to some fans annoyance it didn’t happen sooner this season. However, with three games to go it’s very much a case of beat last seasons tally of sixty one points and see where the side end up. Any thoughts of a sneaky chance of the play offs shouldn’t be completely dismissed but to say they are a long shot, is indeed a very long shot. Even if the Swans win their remaining three games, which is unlikely, they would still only have sixty eight points.

Admittedly it is annoying, however we would have heard the same complaints from the same quarters no matter the results, performance or condition of the team. Joel Piroe has hit form as well and we can at least expect him to start the game up front for the Swans. Joe Allen Is suspended for the rest of the season after his red card on Wednesday evening. That should leave an opportunity for Jamie Paterson to make the squad again, even the starting eleven. There will be our usual match day build up in the morning here on Swansea Independent.
