TEAM NEWS : Swansea City v Coventry City + Report
Friday, 7th Apr 2023 10:25 by @Cornish67David

The Swans have no injury worries as such and could well go with the same side that started against Cardiff City and Bristol City, however, training patterns do indicate possibly one or two squad changes. That could be in midfield, however it will be as close to the side last time out against Cardiff City. We would see Olivier Ntcham as potentially the only change.

TEAMS

Swansea City: Andy Fisher; Harry Darling, Ben Cabango, Nathan Wood, Ryan Manning; Luke Cundle, Matt Grimes (captain), Olivier Ntcham; Liam Walsh; Joel Piroe, Liam Cullen.

Substitutes: Andreas Søndergaard, Jay Fulton, Joe Allen, Jamie Paterson, Morgan Whittaker, Joel Latibeaudiere, Ollie Cooper.

Coventry City: Ben Wilson, Callum Doyle, Kyle McFadzean (captain), Brooke Norton-Cuffy, Jamie Allen, Josh Wilson-Esbrand, Ben Sheaf, Luke McNally, Viktor Gyokeres, Josh Eccles, Gustavo Hamer.

Substitutes: Simon Moore, Jonathan Panzo, Tyler Walker, Fankaty Dabo, Matty Godden, Jake Bidwell, Ryan Howley

Russell Martin happily confirmed his injury status, “Everyone is fine, everyone is fit and healthy.Steven and Archie are long-term injuries and are working really hard and pushing each other. Otherwise everyone is fit, healthy and happy, and that is important ahead of a final run in where we want to kick on. We have a platform to build on with these last two wins, and we want to make sure we carry that into these final seven games.” Martin’s squad has seen an upturn in form and have scored five goals in the last two games. Looking ahead Martin is positive. “These two results have been off the back of the bravery and courage the players have shown in a difficult moment,” said the Swans boss. We have now given ourselves a springboard to go and finish the season really, really well. Hopefully that can help us to build some momentum ahead of next season, build some real positivity and understanding of what we are about. The lads have an opportunity to do that, as do we as a coaching team, and it is up to us to really try and drive that. We are relentless with them, and we will need to continue that and try to make sure we end the season on a good note because these two wins, and the manner of them, have given us a real chance to do that.”

Coventry City boss Mark Robins is forming a strong friendship bond with Russell Martin and they have spoken recently. Speaking about this Martin said yesterday. “Mark reached out to me this season when times were going tough, he gave me a phone call and I appreciated that so much. He just wanted to reach out and help a young manager in whichever way he can which I’m really grateful for, he’s a really top guy, the same as Adi (Viveash). They’ve done an outstanding job. After a tough result at the weekend they’ll be desperate to put that right. They’ve been brilliant games whenever we’ve played them so it’s one we’re looking forward to and one we’re excited about.”

We can expect goals today if the past is anything to go by. Mark Robins' men have lost on their previous two visits to Swansea, 1-0 in their first season back in the Championship in 2021 and 3-1 last season, while losing one and drawing two of their three games at the CBS Arena in recent campaigns - the most recent of which saw Coventry give up a seemingly comfortable 3-0 lead to draw 3-3 in December.

TEAM NEWS appears here at 2pm UK time.
