Liam Smith a nineteen year old left sided player is currently at Swansea having a medical. He has played on the left hand side for his youth side and can be classed as a utility player at left back, left midfield and left sided forward.

He is being classed as a Under 21 squad signing.

The Scottish youth International started his career TASS Thistle Boy's Club on the west coast of Scotland and then moved on to the Scottish development set up. On joining Manchester City his father said. He was doing so well at Kilmarnock,' says his father. 'They absolutely loved him and didn't want him to go, they wanted him to stay. But when Manchester City come in for you it's a no brainer. You are being coached by the best and playing with the best. Liam is a great boy, a fantastic kid. He has never caused us any problems, he has always been focussed on his football and this was a decision he made himself”

He went on to say “Myself and his mother sat him down and said, 'look son, this is your decision. Do what you want to do. He chose Manchester City and there are mixed emotions because on one hand we are so happy for him to be joining a huge club. On the other hand he is moving away from home for the first time. But as parents we are looking at it as his job. It's what he wants to do with his future and football is all he has ever had in his head since he was a young boy. From the day he bought him his first ball and he took it to his bed with him all he wanted was to be a professional footballer”

Smith went to the citizens for £200,000 in March 2020 when he was seventeen. He has featured in the Man City under 18 side. He has signed a permanent deal after a week of negotiations with the Citizens.
