Russell Martin full of optimism this weekend : Third Rangers bid today ?
Friday, 20th Jan 2023 11:14 by @Cornish67David

Swansea City boss Russell Martin is confident his side can progress in the league further this year after some decent showings of late. Even the Bristol City FA Cup tie which should have been a home win saw glimpses of the football Martin is becoming well known for.

Talking before the squad left for this weekends championship game against Queens Park Rangers at Loftus Road Martin spoke enthusiastically of his teams recovery from Tuesday nights loss and training the next day. Speaking of the FA Cup loss Martin said.”We showed them loads of good stuff, loads of positive stuff, against their first eleven currently I think. Seven changes and still, I really liked us so much, the performance”

Jamie Paterson and Morgan Whittaker have been involved in training this week and Morgan will be in the squad for tomorrows game. Paterson is beginning to realise that wanting to leave a club and actually doing so isn’t as easy as he first thought. Maybe due diligence is a term he will gen up on as the month progresses. The good news for Swansea City fans is the inclusion of Morgan Whittaker. Now some will genuinely see this as a stick to prod Glasgow Rangers with as their offers for Morgan have fallen well short of Swansea’s valuation. On that topic Martin has spoken to Whittaker. "With Morgan, he's in the squad tomorrow," confirmed Martin. "We've had bids, we've rejected bids, they're quite a way from the club's valuation of Morgan. I think we need to draw a line under it. Morgan is in agreement. So he's in the squad tomorrow, we look forward to having him in the squad and we'll take it from there."

However, we hear that a third bid is likely today if Gers boss Michael Beale can convince his board the money Swansea want is worth it. The Daily Record in Scotland are monitoring this potential transfer and believe the third bid is in its way. After QPR the swans find themselves without a game for two weeks until the visit of Birmingham City on Saturday February 4th.

Once again Russell Martin will have some time with his squad in full over this period as they move in to the second month of the year. Also we will all be sidetracked by the January transfer window, a month where we are yet to see any moves in to Swansea City and the expected three to leave in Jamie Paterson, Michael Obafemi and Morgan Whittaker still on the Swansea City payroll.
