Swansea City could receive £9,000 a day from FIFA via their global fund in an agreement that clubs with players participating in the competition will be rewarded financially for their absence. Each player involved could earn their club £9,000 for every twenty four hours they are at the World Cup.

Obviously the longer international sides are in the competition the more money is paid to clubs like Swansea. With Ben Cabango and Joe Allen in line for Cymru World Cup call ups it becomes crucial both of them remain injury free to enable them to play in the biggest world competition in any sport. The same applies to Olivier Ntcham who has enjoyed a resurgence internationally with Cameron. They too have qualified for the World Cup. Had the Republic of Ireland managed to qualify the rewards could have been far more. Both Ryan Manning and Michael Obafemi would surely have been selected.

The FIFA fund for clubs is currently at £189,000,000 and the swans could be guaranteed at least £300,000 if all three players are selected for their respective World Cup squads. That takes them to the end of the group phases. Then it’s a case of how long the country they represent remain in Qatar.

News of this massive boost for the swans is yet to be commented on by the club and we wouldn’t expect them to until the squads are announced and the finer detail implemented by FIFA. Each club will file their player claims via a FIFA portal especially designated for pay outs for clubs. Once FIFA approve the registration process for players ( the time the player has been at the club they represent) more information will be made available. However, it’s likely Stoke City ( Joe Allen ) and Celtic ( Ntcham ) will also receive a split of the cash on offer. Ben Cabango of,course is a Swansea City product. Overall though it’s looking like this years World Cup could prove very profitable for Swansea City.
