Swansea City fixtures update & EFL latest matches postponed guide
Saturday, 10th Sep 2022 13:52 by @Cornish67David

Tuesday nights EFL encounter between Swansea City and Sheffield United looks likely to go ahead but the governing body do expect a dramatic downturn in attendances this midweek. There are numerous reasons for that as well.

Despite the guidance when a monarch dies of seven days of mourning with little or no public events it seems sense has restored itself with regards to football fixtures. With many other sporting events going ahead as planned this weekend or marginally rescheduled fans who travel to watch fixtures by public transport find themselves out of pocket. Not least the inability to make rearranged fixtures due to their midweek timing.

The lower attendances will come as a result of people having a lack of faith in the EFL to manage this situation appropriately therefore not paying for travel or time off work. And you can understand that fully. However, it seems strange that the day chosen to show a form of mourning was Saturday and no other day as such. Regards racing meetings will be held on Saturday but racing will return on Sunday - except at Musselburgh - with the running of the St Leger. The disruption to daily life is annoying to many non royalists and even staunch supporters of the monarchy. During these times something to look forward to is a necessity for many.

Many fans have greeted the requests for silence and respect accordingly however in some quarters not so.There were unsavoury scenes during the match between Hearts and Ä°stanbul BaÅŸakÅŸehir at the Tynecastle Stadium in Scotland. A minute's silence descended into chaos and had to be finished early when booing and shouting also rang out around the crowd.

On the football front Swansea City take on Sheffield United this coming Tuesday night with a 7.45pm kick off at the swansea.com stadium. Events are expected to then continue as scheduled until the official announcement of the Queens funeral which usually happens around ten days after her death.
