Joe Allen still not released by Stoke City Wednesday, 11th May 2022 12:12 by Keith Haynes Swansea City will already know that Joe Allen is today having new contract talks with his club Stoke City. Already officially endorsed as a big plus for the current swans squad by Russell Martin recently it seems that the potters are looking at retaining him. Or attempting to. As far as we are concerned Swansea must not get dragged into anything close to a salary war if Stoke offer Allen new terms this week. Itâs obvious that they will be in a position to offer more money to Joe, but now at his age it surely has to be more about other things than cash ? Joe is a level headed individual with little or no blemishes on his character after many years in football. Starting as a Swansea City youth product he soon excelled in the first team. His career has been long, financially it has set him up for life with a near thirty five million pounds worth of collective transfer fees. He has already stated of his desire to return to Swansea but the conditions to do so were never right. Something we reported on last week. That article is here â> âť½ï¸ Swans Indie Joe Allen report Itâs more down to Joe Allen now to fit in to Swansea Cityâs salary scale than to go searching for the highest bidder. He is in a unique position but the swans simply must let this idea run away with them. Let his agent know what it is the club can sensibly offer, let Joe make his mind up and letâs hopefully welcome him back to SA1 at a very sensible financial cost. And that cost certainly must not impact on other transfer opportunities as the summer progresses. His Wales aspirations are still very clear and being within the country and playing for a Welsh club canât do him any harm at all as he gets older. It wonât be the greatest loss if he doesnât rejoin the club that made him. But he is a player as we have said who can âadd valueâ to Russell Martinâs selections next season. We would love to see him back, but not at any cost, and thatâs really now down to him.
