Swansea City fans shouting as loud as they can for more away tickets !
Friday, 8th Apr 2022 13:48 by @Cornish67David

The support that Swansea City have had this season away from home, in general has been phenomenal. Round trips from Swansea, taking into consideration not all fans live in the city of course can take ten hours out of a working day or weekend. That level of support is pretty remarkable when even the club are acknowledging that this season is all about next season.

Upcoming games away at Reading and Nottingham Forest have particular concerns amongst the Jack Army as the Reading game is on a Bank Holiday ( 18th April ) and swans support at that fixture has been as much as 5,000, that was for another Bank Holiday fixture, this time Boxing Day in 2012. Yes, 2,100 is decent but there is still concern even with that number. Obviously Reading do have a decent amount of away places for fans but have restricted that this season. It’s unlikely the swans will receive more than the aforementioned 2,100 tickets for this Bank Holiday game. As we saw at Cardiff last Saturday supporters will go to any lengths to be at a swans game. Buying in to the home ends is most certainly becoming more of an option.

The oddest thing currently being done at Reading is a small bank of home supporters being allowed in to the lower area of what was the away end. Behind them vast spaces of seating are unoccupied. It seems odd that clubs are not maximising their income potential at a time when surely that’s a priority ?

The away end as it was at Reading with room for additional supporters should it be needed

At the end of this month an away fixture, the final one of the season takes place at the city ground in Nottingham between Forest and the swans. Again there is some valid concern as again this is a fixture Swansea City fans enjoy attending. Coupled with the fact it’s the last away game of the season, a traditional time for far larger numbers of fans to travel to an away fixture. The Forest trip has yet to be decided upon, but to accept a batch of tickets of around 1,000 as per the Reading game, and then finding out supporters are still desperate for tickets seems an odd move. Obviously more tickets have been secured but fans do like to make plans in advance for valuable days off such as a Bank Holiday.

Swansea City have only two away games left this season, both are the trips we have referred to. The remaining games are all at home to Derby this weekend, then Barnsley next Friday ( Good Friday ) followed by games against Bournemouth and then Queens Park Rangers. The latter the last game of this season.

We all enjoy an away trip, especially as the weather gets warmer, and these two remaining away games need to be far better planned by the clubs concerned, and indeed the swans if there is to be a happy conclusion for this seasons travelling Jacks.
